His Imperial Majesty, Haile Selassie I, Holds great sway and significance in the lives of countless individuals. For many, he is the cornerstone of their spiritual philosophy and the light that led them to a cultural awakening. For others, he is the hammer of Afrika that breaks the chains of Anglo/Euro enslavement. The place of meaning that he holds in the lives of his admirers is almost as varied and diverse as the individuals themselves. Ras Tafari's influence has transcended all geographical, racial, political, sociological boundaries and has found heart adherent throughout the globe.
After 3 years of study, searching, and reasoning I have encountered a broad array of Rastafarians and dreads. 12 tribes, EWF, Nyabhinghi, Bobo Ashanti, Jesus Dreads, etc. I have always been impressed by their depth of spirituality and their various interpretations of the Ras Tafari way. I have come away from all of these encounters with a greater appreciation and understanding of the Almighty, life, and mankind. Their beliefs and convictions of the Emperor's personage vary greatly, but they all share a common affinity for the significance of Haile Selassie I. It is this common bond that I would like to build and expand upon.
To paraphase Bob Marley, Brother Joseph, mankind is a universe unto himself. Each person is unique in his or her own reasoning about faith and life. If we take the time to listen to one another, life truly can be our university. With this thought in mind, I have decided to produce a newsletter consisting of interviews with people who credit Selassie I as a source of guidance and inspiration.
Admirers of varying nationalities, houses, and conceptions have the ability to paint a portrait of Ras Tafari in unique hues of thought and consciousness. I anticipate being blessed by the reasoning.
