Metopia: The Year In Review
Thank you to all who have visited the Empire of Metopia over the course of the year. August 17, 2003 marked the one-year anniversary of the founding of the Metopian Empire. In this section we will talk about some of the highlights of Metopia's first year.
August 2002
Brad O'Neil sees an episode of "Sealab 2021" on Cartoon Network wherein the characters form an orginization called the Knights of Mars. Inspired, Brad thinks up the Knights of Bohemia.
Aug 17: Brad aka Sir Vyborny tells Tim Willis aka Sir Freddie Mercury about the Knights. Sir Freddie Mercury mentions that he has just founded the Empire of Metopia. Sir Vyborny, who never meant the Knights of Bohemia to actually be formed, is allowed to create the Knights, based in Metopia.
Throughout the first weeks of it's existance, Vyborny and Freddie Mercury expand the Empire, creating Laws and Info for the website.
Sir Neptars (Willie Robinson) is the first to join the Knights of Bohemia.
September
Sometime this month, Metopia recieved it's 100th hit.
Though nothing particularly noteworthy happened, word of Metopia spread throughout the land.
The Knights gain new members.
The Metopian obsession with the addax begins.
October
SDCC composes "Pornography Aisle."
Communist Manifesto added....sign of things to come?
Metopia's 500th hit.
SDCC gets in trouble for singing about beer....
Stuarts Draft cross-country team runs at districts, barely missing a regional berth as a team. Jon Lichtenstein (aka Sir Lightstone) grabs an individual berth though.
November
The first anti-Fort Defiance CC page is made....it essentially says "Fort Sux!!" and little else.
Lightstone runs at regionals.
The Bohemian Knights pages are expanded.
December
Sir Freddie Mercury has his name legally changed to Sir Schottenfroida.
Willie Wankah founds the Metopian Picayune.
Metopia gets it's 1,000th hit.
The story of SDCC (the band) is added to the Metopian website. It continues to expand to this day, but has somewhat gone to crap.
January 2003
Most of the Stuarts Draft cross-country runners join the indoor track team. Yay.
The Knights of Bohemia get pissed at Fort Defiance....again....Sir Vyborny, Sir Byrun Sexxalought (Jarrod Thomas) and Sir Nobunaga ($hawn Wheeler) write an expansion of the anti-Fort CC site. You just can't do that, apparantly.
SDCC composes "FJB."
Jan 28, All Hell's Day: Jordan Bowman and Owen Parkinson find out about the anti-them pages. A great big scandal erupts at the Shenandoah Valley Regional Governer's School. It's all quite silly, really.
February
Deciding it's best not to get Stuarts Draft in any more trouble, Vyborny and Schottenfroida intervene and remove the anti-Fort pages. They swear that this won't happen again....but don't necessarily mean it. (James Wood CC, we're looking in your direction........heh heh heh....)
The famous revenge race at Indoor districts. Vyborny defeats Bowman and Parkinson in the mile for the first time ever to save Metopia from their hands.
Vyborny, Byrun Sexxalought, and Jerome Lafaire (Jeremy Rowe), among other non-Knights, advance to regionals.
In a contest to be the 2,000th hit, Hurricane Bob (aka Sir Ironhorse) wins the first ever free dnL.
Vyborny goes to states for the mile. (He doesn't do very well.)
March
The Book of Cheese is created!!!!
The Knights of Bohemia split into chapters based on location.
Vyborny is defeated by Bowman twice in one day.
April
Jarrod Thomas wins the free dnL in the Most Useless Thing Contest.
The annoying pop-up page is created. Vyborny and Schottenfroida delight in annoying the piss out of people, and recieve many complaints.
May
Vyborny gets his revenge for Bowman's earlier revenge by winning against him three times this month.
Before the last of said races, Vyborny is chased around a parking lot by the Fort Girl Squad of Hayley James, Anne Ward, Polly Arey, and Jaclyn Wine. The Fort girls demand that they get their own page on the Metopian website. (Sometime in the middle of all this, Sir Fartlek [Brandon Spalding] arrives and is confused.) Vyborny says they will get their own page....but still hasn't actually made it....
The Great Almighty Soda Contest of Death begins.
June
Prior to the Soda Wars final between dnL and Mountain Dew Livewire, Sir Burnsalot (Jeremy Grant) actually makes a shirt based on the Soda Contest!!! He is promoted instantly.
Controversy arises at the Soda Wars final, as an argument over whether absentee ballots should be counted. Also, Code Red which lost in the semi-final, still recieves several votes. dnL is declared the winner, but to this day it has not been made official as Metopian detectives look into the matter.
Much spamming on the Book of Cheese.
On the last day of school, Vyborny himself becomes the site's 3,000th hit.
School ends!!! Hot damn!!!!
The Metopian Blitzball league starts play.
Draft and Fort CC teams are reconciled.....well...at least O'Neil and Corbett are.....
July
The Northern All-Stars win the MBL All-Star game.
Huricane Bob holds the Metopian Track & Field Trials. Hurrah!
August
Metopia gets its 4,000th hit.
The Hiriz City Hammers win the MBL championship.
The first Metopia spin-off website is created. It is website about Jack-Did-Jill, one of the Metopian Picayune writers. (aka Nick Teixeira or Sir Shizerdick.)
A certain Fort-related scandal occurs........more on this later.
Vyborny writes this Year In Review thing....which I'm still writing...but won't be by the time you read this.....or something.....
The Future
The future looks bright for the Metopian Empire. So what can you expect in the second year of our existance?
