Like a certain other country (England) Metopia is based around a two-party system. Unlike the one specific country (USA) there are an unusually high amount of third-, fourth-, and theeroth-party candidates. This is of course due to the fact that Metopian law allows for anyone and their second cousin to run for elected office. There now follows a brief overview of the parties in Metopia. (Yugoslavia)

Sensible Party

The Sensible Party of Metopia (or SPOM for short) is the party for the ordinary working class citizens of Metopia, as well as the rich ones. They support campaign finance reform, increasing the silver trade, rebuilding Medicare, and other boring things like that. It's members mostly sit around having meetings and actually talking about politics. Unlike most of the other parties in Metopia, the Sensible Party actually does know about politics.

Silly Party

The Silly Party of Metopia (or SPOM for short) is the party for those not-quite sane members of society. Their platform consists of many diverse elements, including the institution of Flogging Day every 3rd weekend in December, placing Liberty Bell replicas in every telephone booth, and the circulation of small children as legal tender. Their head minister, John-John Antichrist Pillsbury Stockingbreath, has said that, although his party is unpopular in some regions, he plans to go sit on a fence and hand out yo-yos and live cobras to passers-by.

Minor Parties

In addition to the two major parties; Metopia has several radical upstart minor parties. The Slightly Silly Party is exactly like the Sensible Party except for the occasional hand-buzzer gag or pie in the groin. The Very Silly Party believes the Silly Party to be too moderate and spends most of its time lying upside down in small boxes. The Completly Insane party agrees with them, only more so. The Guns 'n' Dope party believes in....guns 'n' dope. The Republican Party is about the same. The Pissed Off party likes to start riots in the streets and throw rotten meats and cheeses at its enemies. The Questionable Party is made up of whores, the Stone Dead party doesn't move very much, and the Completly Idiotic party is just Brad O'Neil running around with his pants down. And of course, the Irrelevant Party doesn't really matter.
