The Metopian contest for summer 2003 is......The Metopian Blitzball League!!!!! The Metopian Blitzball League will consist of six teams of 8 players each. There will be ten regular season games per team (playing every other team twice) with an All-Star Game in the Middle. Then, the Tournament to decide the Metopian National Blitzball Champion. The winning team will recieve a free dnL.

As per FFX blitzball, every team has been given a slightly wierd name.
The teams are:

  • Vybornyville Harriers (captained by Brad O'Neil)
  • Mercury City Meltdown (captained by Tim Willis)
  • Hiriz City Hammers (captained by Cullen O'Neil)
  • Midgar Zoloms (captained by $hawn Wheeler)
  • Queens Royales (captained by Hurricane Bob)
  • Costa Del Sol Guys (captained by Nick "John" Teixeira)


    The All-Star Game at mid-season will be played between the Northern All-Stars (players from Vybornyville, Hiriz City, and Queens) and the Western All-Stars (players from Mercury City, Midgar, and Costa Del Sol.)
    The league will start play when all six teams have a captain. If you would like to be the captain of one of these teams, e-mail me at rubicanteofthe7thcircle@hotmail.com. Note that this is a desirable posion, as not only do you not actually have to do anything, but also the captain recieves the free dnL if his team wins.

    Awards

    The following awards will be given at the end of the year:
  • Schottenfroida Cup----Champion (Tournament)
  • Vyborny Cup-----------Champion (Regular Season)
  • Tidus Trophy----------Leading Scorer
  • Nimrook Trophy--------Best Goalie in League
  • Auric Soapdish--------League MVP
  • Argent Soapdish-------Rookie of the Year
    And of course along with the Schottenfroida Cup the winning team will recieve the free dnL.

    How it works

    Once all six teams have a captain, the draft will begin. Each team will draft seven players, so that, plus themselves, the teams have eight (8) players each. They will then declare a starting line-up, which consists of six players in the following positions:
  • Goalie
  • Left Defense
  • Right Defense
  • Center Forward
  • Left Forward
  • Right Forward
    During the year, captains can pick up free agents, or trade players, if they want to, but it doesn't really matter to me.
