The Planet Mars

Mars is the world next door, the most Earth-like of the planets in our Solar System. It has a day/night cycle almost exactly the same as Earth's. Its axis is also tilted at an angle similar to Earth's, so that it experiences seasons. There is widespread evidence that liquid water once flowed on the surface of Mars, and that there were once vast oceans. This suggests that life may have evolved there. There is also mounting fossil evidence of Martian life in a piece of Mars that was ejected from the planet by an asteroid impact, and which landed in Antarctica. If life did evolve on Mars, it may still persist below the surface. We may not be alone. But even if there is no life on Mars today, there will be tomorrow. We are going to Mars. We will plant forests, and cause the fields to bloom.
