Come join us in our exploration of the past and the future: the glory that was Rome and great unknown of the final frontier. Although our emphasis is on classical Rome, the empire encompassed dozens of cultures and their local variants: Celts, Germans, Hellenists, Phoenicians, Jews, Egyptians, and more. Proposed Roman Name

Before choosing a Martiania name for yourself, please research the classical Roman naming convention. If you have previously created a Roman name as a member of some Roman organization, you may insert Martiania/-us into your existing name; e.g., Lucius Domitius Aurelianus might become Lucius Martianius Domitius Aurelianus.

Praenomen:		First name.
Nomen:	Martiania/-us	Gentile name. All members of our gens have the nomen Martiania (female) or Martianius (male).
Cognomen:		Familial name. Often this began as a name that referred to a person's physical or personality trait. A familia consists of two or more persons. If you applying alone, you should choose one of the current familiae (you may request to create a new familia; however, you will be required to bring at least one other member into your familia within one year). If you are one of several people applying together, you may request to create a new familia.

Agnomen:		Optional additional name. Most people did not have an agnomen. Sometimes this was an honorific name to commemorating an important deed, i.e., a general's signal victory. A few of these were inherited like the cognomen, thus establishing a sub-familia within a familia.
