A short biography of the band.......

Live. Seeing their huge success and powerful songs of today, you'd think they'd always been that way. But in truth, when first starting out, they lost the Great York Talent Hunt. But at that time they were not the same band. They were just three high school kids, Chad Taylor, Patrick Dahleimer, and Chad Gracey, who called themselves First Aid.

After losing the talent hunt, they realized they needed something else. So they recruited Ed Kowalcyzk as lead singer, and renamed themselves Public Affection. They were obsessed with albums from the likes of the Talking Heads and the Clash. They listened to them repeatedly to discover their secrets. And apparently they did because soon Public Affection's gigs at local venues were pulling sell-out crowds. They decided it was time to move beyond York, PA, their hometown, and soon had monthly appearances at New York's CBGB, and finally they landed a record deal, with Radioactive Records, coincidently run by former Talking Head, Gary Kurfirst.

In 1992 they debuted as Live with Mental Jewelry (produced by Talking Head, Jerry Harrison). The name Live came to Chad Taylor in a dream, where he saw it written across his cousin's hat. From there, the rest is history. Live continued to release albums, each one being more of a success than the last one. For the band though, it's all about the concerts. And if you've ever attended one, you should know why. Says lead singer, Ed Kowalcyzk, about being on stage, "My band's called Live - and those are the moments you cherish the most!"
