Happy Birthday Princess Meli!

Princess Meli turns 24 this year on July 23. We here at the Lepidopteran News are vey happy for her and wish her well as she celebrates and grows a year older and a year wiser on this special day. Princess Meli is extremely lucky to be born in the water month! No word yet on her mother abdicating so we can assume Meli will not become queen until she's at least 31.

For non-Lepidopterans (not available in Ze):

Meli means "dew" and she loves water. Being born in a month that is the same as her name and her favorite thing is extremely lucky. Meli will probably have a big party as she is the Skipperian princess. Normally the party would include oly her family. There will be Rain Dances (running around in the rain -- only in June-July), games, eating of many mi cakes, and the exchanging of homemade trinkets (each person or family makes one according to their specialty).

Rain , Rain, Rain!

Well, the monsoons are upon us here in the Lepidopteran Isles as usual. There has been some mild flooding this year, but not enough to send the Roze into the towns. Hopefully the mi plants won't get washed out. If they do not then we can expect a bountiful harvest this year.

Butterflyians

New village formed!!!

The large city of Bene (pop. 120) has had a large number of residents leave the hustle and bustle of the big city and form a smaller village called Tini. Queen Dazi has agreed to cap the population of Tini at 26 persons.

Mothians

Keba being redesigned

The Mothian currency will have a new look this fall. Queen Zada commented that "it hasn't been changed in 30 years and I thought it was time for a different look." No word yet on the design, but the top Mothian artists are diligently coming up with designs.

Roze

The Roze losing ground -- again!

The new Butterflyian village ofTini has decreased the space the Roze have by about a mile. Many Roze have complained to the queens of the three islands who are considering forming an area strictly for Roze to prevent further encroachment. Another plan calls for the former Veye settlements to become Roze land as well. Our sources say that Roze are greatly in favor of that althouh they will have much ork to go to make the land livable once more.
