Norwich upset by Simcoe in shootout

The Norwich Merchants suffered only their 2nd blemish on their otherwise perfect season last night in Simcoe.

The Storm tied the game 5-5 on the powerplay with less than 5 minutes to go in the 3rd period.

Then both Corey Bethune and Tristan Lysko scored in the shootout following a scoreless overtime period ..... while neither Bryan Phillips or Mike Brilhante could pocket a goal for the Merchants ..... giving the Storm the victory.

Norwich only other blemish was also a shootout loss 3-2 in New Hamburg back in October ... in there 1st game after the sudden tragic passing of defenceman Ben Pearson.

The Merchants lead the NDJCHL with 36 points on a 17-0-2 record .... while Simcoe is now on a 8-game winning streak after a sluggish start to the season and sit in 3rd place with 25 points on a 12-5-1 record.
