Navy Vets open exibition schedule

 

Fans will have their first chance to catch a glimpse of the 2010-11 Woodstock Navy Vets this weekend.

The Navy Vets host the Simcoe Storm Friday at 7:15 p.m., the first game of a home-and-home series that wraps up Sunday night in Simcoe.

Without the Shootout-at-the-Plex tournament this season, the Navy Vets exhibition schedule was cut short. Simcoe won a rookie game between the teams Sept. 23, but this weekend's games will be the only two for Woodstock resembling its final roster.

The roster continues to shrink and so far six players have re-signed with the team (Neil Pittock, Spencer Sweazy, Andy Fallowfield, Devon Young, Travis Horvath and Christian Babb).

Brynn Schultz, Chase Thornton, Derek Cowing, Dylan Lazarus and Kyle Robertson have all signed from the Woodstock midget team.

The team also announced three of its players from last season have

signed with Junior B clubs. Jordan Minello and Calvin Thomson both joined the St. Marys Lincolns of the Western league, while Brandon Zimmerman will suit up for the Midwestern league's Cambridge Winterhawks.

The regular season kicks off Friday, Sept. 17 against the Paris Mounties.
