OHL suspends Storm's Barr and Pottruff
Head coach Dave Barr and defenceman Ryan Pottruff of the Guelph Storm have been suspended indefinitely pending a hearing after a slashing incident marred Monday night's OHL playoff game in London.
Pottruff received a slashing major after he delivered a two-handed whack on Knights star Corey Perry as he broke in on net with six minutes left in the game. Perry saw the stick coming and shielded himself, taking the brunt of the blow on his right leg.
Barr was ejected from the game after linesman Kevin Hastings reported to referee Carman Cox that he overheard the coach say on the bench: ''someone go out there and break someone's wrist.''
The Knights made the Storm pay, scoring three times during the five-minute man advantage en route to a 5-1 win and a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
A hearing will be held in ''the very near future,'' OHL commissioner David Branch said in a statement Tuesday.
Pottruff and Barr were to sit out Game 4 of the Western Conference quarter-final series in Guelph on Tuesday.
