Name: Kerry King Plays: Guitar Born: June 3rd. 1964 in Los Angeles, CA. He was the one to start the whole thing. He was the one to start Slayer. He got together with Jeff at first. Then they met with Dave Lombardo, who they could use, because they was looking for a drummer. In 1983, Kerry helped out Megadeth a few times, during concerts, because Megadeth had some problems finding a guitarist. One of Kerry's hobbies is breeding snakes and show-dogs. It has even evolved into some sort of a business for him. Kerry is a man who isn't afraid to open his mouth and sometimes that causes trouble. He says what he wants to, completely. In 1995, he was the one to say, in an interview to Kerrang, that Kirk Hammet was "the most overrated player ever to grace the pages of a guitar magazine. " Many readers couldn't deal with that, and Kerrang received tons of letters about that. After that incident, the relationship between Metallica and Slayer has not been the best. He has two sisters, Karen Wilson and Kathie Adams. He is engaged right now and has a condo in Anaheim Hills and a house in Phoenix, Arizona. He does have a daughter, Shyanne Kymberlee King. He has been married twice. I was told that Kerry - as a person, is great. He is really nice but very quiet. He lives for sports, especially the Raiders. He always wears a Raiders jersey in concert. He loves reading alien encounter type books. Kerry King and Lars Ulrich, has been described as the most influencial persons in heavy/thrash metal. Because Kerry started Slayer and Lars Ulrich started Metallica. Those two bands, has influenced countless other bands. The entire thrash generation, was build on "Show No Mercy" and "Kill'em all". This is what Kerry has to say about himself: "I believe president John F. Kennedy was assassinated by New Orleans Mafia head and Pelican Tomato Co. founder, the late Carlos Marcello and his FBI and CIA cohorts. I also believe he had Robert Kennedy assassinated also. I am a staunch supporter of Richard M. Nixon. My favorite band is the Rolling Stones. My favorite movie is The Empire Strikes Back and my favorite film is either Goodfellas or 2001: A Space Odessey." I can add a little to that: Kerry is a huge Star Wars fan. He also liked the movie Taxi Driver quite a lot. He is very opinionated and rather stubborn." Kerry is also a member of "The Church Of Satan". In 1997/1998 he changed his image. Now he has got a new Snake-kinda tatoo down his right arm and grown a large beard as you can see on his picture above. He was also approached by Max Cavalera who asked him to join his new band, "Soulfly". Kerry refused! Speaking of Max Cavelera - the relationship between him and Kerry and the rest of Slayer have been improved a great deal. After Max was booted from Sepultura, Kerry send him and his wife a fax saying "Good luck in the future" and Max replyed back with a "Thank you". Who knows, maybe we'll see Max and Kerry work together on a side-project or a soundtrack - that could be cool... And that doesn't even stop there - On the OzzFest 1999, Kerry regularly jammed with Rob Zombie on his set, so who knows - maybe Kerry and Rob will do something together in the future.
