Starting when I was little, I always
loved music. My tastes have come a long way since my early years, but
my love for music has not. I started out with an interest in oldies,
as my mom controlled the stereo. Oldies are great, but I got tired of
listening to the same songs. I mean come on, wouldn't you think as
time went on there would be new oldies? Or am I being ridiculous?
From oldies I moved on to pop, this is equivalent to the middle ages of my
music listening. I plead temporary insanity. Some pop isn't so
bad, but there are few exceptions. From pop I took the large jump to
hip-hop. The hip-hop of the late 90's was my favorite period.
The beats and lyrics were original, and everyone was able to get along.
Hip-hop in the 50 Cent era was excellent as well, however not as good as in
the late 90's. To me, hip-hop has been in a gradual state of decline.
Today the beats all sound the same and the originality is long gone. A
few artists have avoided this break-down, Missy Elliott, my home girl, is an
example. This past year I leapt from hip-hop to modern rock. I
classify modern rock as encompassing alternative rock, punk, and general
rock. If you haven't listened to modern rock you are missing out.
It isn't all screaming and yelling, although there is some. Where I go
from here will only be told in time, so make sure to keep it locked to this
site for further updates.
