Song Meanings - *Back To Main*

A little of the meanings of my songs and why I wrote them.

Red Then Blue

Well this song is kind of inspired by a dream I had. In the dream I am at my house in my driveway. Its dark and raining. In my driveway there is this girl, she's beautiful, has long brown hair. She's dying, I don't know why. And I'm crying I think, cause this girl, I love her. She dies in my arms. I wake up, I'm crying like I've lost someone I love, then, hey guess what, I meet this girl a few months later. I had never seen her at the time of my dream. She had a cousin who was hit by a drunk driver, so I put the ideas together I think. I started writing it, and didn't know what it was till I finished.

For Addison

Basically Addison is this fictional girl I wrote a song for.

This Horrid Silence

I kind of got some of the idea for this from a line from a Matchbox Twenty song "...if you've never heard that silence its a god awful sound." This horrid silence, is basically just being anywhere without a certain person.

Persistence Of Memory

This is about how once you get cut it never really heals. "Here I am for the first time" kind of self explanatory, first cut, first real heartbreak.

Enough Scar Tissue To Last

Pretty much, this is how I feel with being so in love, that I give my self to this person, but I don't really know what she feels in return.

Lingering Fantasies

That one idea, "fantasy" that just sticks with you and doesn't leave. For me, that was my time spent with the same girl, it was better than anything that I could fantasize, so it sticks with me.

Stationary Philander

About a relationship that might not be going anywhere. I sort of felt odd at this time in my life, cause I was happy, and wasn't used to it, it scared me.

The Last Song

It's about the end of something beautiful.

Waiting For You

I got a partial idea for this from a line from a Nine Days song "... I want to be with you forever,
and tomorrow's not too late."

Contradicting Emotions and Fabricated Love

The chorus is basically a couple lines from a conversation I had with my ex. The rest is stretched versions of what I felt at the time.

Forever Ever Ending

Kind of like, I thought I was just paranoid getting signals like someone was going to leave me, but I wasn't paranoid.

Watch Your Step

Ok, I'm in the bathroom on this cruise ship. On the door the sign says watch your step, so I took a picture of it cause it looked cool, and I wanted to use it for something. So I title the song, Watch Your Step.
