My Pictures of the 337

So what exactly is so special about the GTI 337? Well, first off this baby is in limited supply, only 1,500 were imported to the United States! In comparison to a "stock" GTI 2002(3), the 337 comes stock with a 6 speed transmission, 18'' BBS rims, Z-rated tires, Recaro racing seats and custom red stiching and toned interior, sport suspension and brakes, and of course the body kit. It is the same engine however, as the GTI 1.8T or Audi A4 1.8T.

What spawned the 337? And why the numbers 337?

The germans basically formulated how to make a faster hatchback, which coined the name "hot-hatch". They released a model of the Golf and GTI in Germany in 1976, and to VW's surprise the "hot-hatch" was a hot buy.

In 1983, VW tryed its luck with the Golf and GTI in the U.S. market, again the "hot-hatch" sold like hot cakes. The 337 was the model number of the GTI 25 years ago. VW thought it would be a treat for VW enthusiasts to have a 25th aniversary release of the ever so popular GTI, which came to the U.S. 25 years prior.
