The Sea
What an unforgiving place this is,
So dark and deep and secretive,
I stand onshore and watch and wait,
To see if ever it will abate.
But ever onward comes the tide,
And sweeps away what lays beside,
It takes it out into the night,
Never letting escape or flight.
The clasp of liquid strong and firm,
Will take away the smallest worm,
It never stops it never ends
It takes away even friends.
And yet so far beyond the surface,
Lies a world that we like searching
To find the secrets of the past,
Which lay within the sand so vast.
The smallest creatures here we’ll find,
All colours shapes to be defined,
We watch with wonder and great awe,
As they hide behind their makeshift doors
Into their world we search and probe,
To find out what their secrets hold
And when they defend with attack,
The people always fight back.
When will we learn this sea so bleak,
Belongs to creatures of the deep,
Tis not our place beneath the sea,
But on dry ground we should be.
