Growing

You watch them growing with great awe,
Upon your being they rely more,
Tiny beings so helpless,
Sometimes giving you distress.

As they grow throughout the years,
You watch their personalities appear,
They are individuals now,
Who can hold their own in a row.

Their sense of humour makes you laugh,
Their frustration shows when times are rough,
Their beauty and individualism,
Project outward in a prism.

Now they reach their adult years,
And live their lives sometimes with tears,
All you can do is stand and watch,
And be there when times get tough.
