FAMILY?
I pointed this out as part of the reason why young people are so messed up these days. Okay, so now how do we figure out how THIS problem began? Once again, one can only guess. I think we can start by looking at the fact that, in this day and age, the average family’s income has increased to such a comfortable level that there can be a TV in every room in the house, even little Johnny’s. Isn’t that wonderful? Yeah…except now the kid won’t leave the room. Even if he’s watching the SAME THING his family is watching in the living room, he’d rather watch it in his bedroom because it’s cool that he has his own TV. Then you’ve got video games, movies, Internet…so many forms of entertainment. So they spend time away from their parents and siblings and don’t know how to identify with other people. So now you have a family whose members don’t even know each other. Of course, this isn’t the only source of the family breakdown. On the other end of the financial spectrum, you have parents who have to work two jobs each to survive. In this case, the lack of family time together is naturally no one’s fault, but no less damaging.
All I can do is guess that this has something to do with it. I am certainly no sociologist. In college I took only one sociology course, and it was a 101 Intro class. Based on this you might not even give these theories any credibility. Oh well. I’m just trying to figure out the nature of this problem for myself, even if no one else will listen.
