ABORTION
Just another way (albeit a disgusting one) for people in this world to avoid the consequences of their actions. And before anyone even says anything…yes, I know that most males avoid the responsibility by taking off when they get a girl pregnant. That’s pretty despicable too, but not as bad as taking a life.
Here are some of my qualms with abortion-related bullshit…
1) IT’S A WOMAN’S BODY. True, the fetus is inside a woman’s body, but it has its own DNA. It is already its own unique life.
2) IT’S NOT LIKE IT HAS A SOUL. Given that we can’t prove ANY of us actually have a soul, who are you to say when the soul enters the baby?
3) (INSERT NAME HERE) CAN’T HAVE A BABY, SHE’S ONLY (INSERT AGE HERE) YEARS OLD. Well, then she shouldn’t have been having sex, unprotected or otherwise. But since she screwed up, she can have the baby and then give it up for adoption. And this leads me right into my next point…
4) I CAN’T CARRY A BABY IN MY BODY FOR NINE MONTHS AND THEN JUST GIVE IT AWAY. Okay…so then keep it and take care of it. I always found this argument humorous. You can’t give it away to a family who could give the child the kind of life it deserves, but you can kill it and give it no life at all? Some people would say not all adoptive families are all that great. I say, hey…it’s a risk you run…just like you run a risk of getting pregnant when you have unprotected sex, you run a risk of dying when you cross a busy street. Life is just a long, long string of risks, one after the next.
5) THE WORLD IS OVERPOPULATED AS IT IS. Following that logic, it should be okay for me to get a gun and go shoot people at random on the street. When the cops come for me, I’ll tell them, “Hey, the world’s overpopulated as it is.”
6) WHY DON’T YOU JUST BUTT OUT OF THIS ARGUMENT? YOU’RE A MAN, YOU SHOULD HAVE NO SAY IN THIS AT ALL. Yeah, well guess what, dear? That may be true to a certain extent…say, for the politicians arguing against abortion who don’t know you…but let’s say that I am the one who gets the girl pregnant. Since the life that’s been created is 50% my creation, I think I should have a say.
I feel pretty strongly about these arguments, but there are some instances where I find myself in a quandary.
7) THE BABY WILL BE DEFORMED/RETARDED. I can see some justification for abortion here…although there is that phrase, “Life is sacred” that keeps leaping into my mind. It means all life. People don’t say, “Life is sacred…unless you’re a retard.”
8) THE GIRL GOT PREGNANT WHEN SHE WAS RAPED. Another tough one. On one hand, the mother probably won’t be able to give the child any love because, every time she looks at it, she’ll be reminded of her horrible experience. Then again, the kid didn’t ask to be created by such a vile act. Besides, if it’s too tough for the mother to handle, she can always turn to the aforementioned choice of adoption.
9) THE MOTHER WOULD DIE GIVING BIRTH. Now you’ve got two lives involved, and who the hell has the right to choose which one should die? For situations like this, I say abortion is the choice. But out of all the abortions performed in this country, I bet very few of them take place for this reason.
Another thing that really bugs me about this is the partial birth abortion. There is a glaring legal contradiction in this concept. Let me put it this way: if a woman is three months pregnant and some sick bastard murders her, he is put on trial for two murders…yet it’s all right for a woman to have her baby killed as it’s coming out. Why is she not considered a murderer too?
There is no real reason for abortion in this world. We have so many methods of contraception. I’ve heard of a pill that is not just a “morning after” pill but is something like a “FIVE mornings after” pill. Can you imagine that? It’s amazing. And maybe if the world would get back to re-establishing some of the moral standards it used to have, we wouldn’t have 14 year old kids humping anyway.
