THE ABC'S OF LUNCH BOX FOOD SAFETY
IT'S BACK-TO-SCHOOL TIME – A PERFECT TIME TO LEARN THE ABC'S OF LUNCH BOX FOOD SAFETY
  KEEP FOODS CLEAN
Everything from food to food preparation surfaces, hands and utensils should be spotless. Use hot, soapy water and be sure to wash your hands before you prepare or eat food.

KEEP COLD FOODS COLD
Use an insulated lunch box or bag. You'll also want to use freezer gel packs or cold food

items such as fruit or frozen juice packs. Nestle perishable items between these cold items. Sandwiches and salads should be made ahead and chilled in the refridgerator or freezer before packing. If you must use paper or plastic lunch bags, double-bag to help insulate the food.

KEEP HOT FOODS HOT
Preheat insulated bottles by filling them with
boiling water and letting them sit a few minutes. Heat foods until piping hot and place immeadiately in the preheated bottles. Place bottle in an insulated lunch box or bag.

AND DON'T FORGET...
Store your packed lunch in a cool, dark place. Any perishable leftovers should be discarded after lunch.
