E3, Bakersfield's Performing Arts School, is located at "The Garden", a center created specifically to host Community Enhancement Projects. Working with the city schools and many community organizations, we are proud to have a diverse mixture of students in the program. We are excited to have some of Bakersfield's most talented performing teachers on our staff. Mr. Shay Burke, the program director, has worked in children's theatre for many years and has performed in more than 70 productions, locally and professionally. The former manager of Bakersfield Stars Gymnastics, and an entertainer for the Disney Corporation, Shay has put together a program that fits the needs of working parents and provides a springboard for children to grow into their natural talents. Mrs. Tonya Sheetz, the music director, is a local professional musician and dance director. Michelle Roberts, dance instructor, is a classically trained ballet dancer. E3 offers classes in drama, tap, ballet, gymnastics, singing, drums, piano, karate, art, jazz dance, guitar and homework tutoring. E3 involves the students in the production of a variety of creative events, such as a release of a Christmas CD, musicals and community productions. Our goals are to teach performing arts in an environment that encourges confidence and leadership skills, all which guide children to a more productive and enhanced future. E3 is located in the heart of Bakersfield at the old YMCA building at 22nd and P street. Children from the community participate in classes Monday thru Friday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Each child takes up to three classes a day and can enroll for two days a week up to five days a week. Classes range from $70.00 a month to $220.00 a month for a full week of classes.
