1. First off the most important thing we have noticed in the time we have been playing speedball is how important it is to zone. Zoning is basically the practice of shooting at the opponent opposite of you. This means that if you are playing the right field of your end of the field, you should be mostly shooting at the opponent on your left downfield. This way gives you the best angle when shooting downfield at your opponent. And therefore gives you a better chance of hitting them.
2. Don't play to close to bunkers. Staying too tight to bunkers limits how fast you can "pop out" and hit another opponent. Many bunkers you can play quite a ways back and due to the angle you still can not get hit. This also brings me to my next tip...
3. Look over the field before you play on it. Get your teammates to stand at different locations and see where you can stand without being seen, where the good bunkers are for zoning, and figure out a general gameplan.
4. When you are intent on moving up the field, try to get someone to cover your zone. The man your are zoning against is going to probably have the best chance of hitting you when you move, so try to get your center player to cover your zone before you move.
5. Have fun! If you start arguing and fighting with your teammates, you are no longer having fun, and therefore you will lose. Trust me, our team knows all about this.
