Easy To Build One Man Helicopter

Did you ever want to fly a helicopter? But they cost too much to learn how to fly, much less to own one. Now you can do both, this easy to build one man homebuilt helicopter can be made from standard parts that are available from your local hardware store and auto parts store, best of all, if you buy everything on the parts list, it will cost you less than a total of $500.00, if you build the rotors, rotor head, and engines, yourself. No license is required to fly the helicopter, it weights less than 225 pounds, so it falls in the "ultralight" flight category that requires no pilots license. The one man helicopter uses two specially designed jet powered, easy to build, engines mounted on the tips of the rotors. Starts with a push of a button, foot controls for the rudder, and has a motorcycle style handlebar controls for the rotors. Plans contain drawings and instructions to build the helicopter, the tip-jet engines, rotor head and rotor blades.

Thermojet Engine

In the thermo jet engine a unique system is provided where gas jets work in conjunction with a jet to compress the air; the impelling jet resulting from the high velocity of the primary fuel supply. This power plant system is dependent upon, a thermochemical jet process, thus the name "thermo-jet". The thermo jet uses a primary air-injection nozzle in combination with a pilot burner, in  which  fuel is combined with air sufficient to sustain its own continuous combustion. This combustion process is a heat transfer cycle, which is utilized to furnish most of the energy to compress air for the main fuel combustion, eliminating the need for an expensive mechanical compressor. As a power plant the thermojet engine provides for rugged, economical and reliable operation, as no moving parts are required. It burns liquid fuel, such as propane, gasoline, kerosene, alcohol, etc.,  with a high degree of combustion efficiency, because of the ideal fuel-air ratios. The thermo jet engine is a power plant ideally suited for installation on the rotor tips of  helicopters; having the advantage of self-starting , efficient operation, being capable of developing static thrust under stationary conditions, and also has economical fuel consumption at varying speeds and altitudes. Pulse Jet Powered Helicopter

In other rotor tip jet propelled helicopters, it is common to provide a jet engine at the tip or outboard end of each rotor blade. The reaction of the jet causes rotation of the rotor with consequent flight of the craft; with no other power being required. A disadvantage is that with the jet engine at the tip of the rotor, considerable drag occurs as a result of the presence of the jet engine.

This Jet Powered Helicopter uses a special arrangement in which a pulse jet engine is located at the root or inboard end of the rotor structure adjacent the rotor column to simplify the fuel flow problem and obviate the objectionable drag which would otherwise occur with the jet engine at the tip of the rotor. In the construction of this helicopter, the jet engine at the root end of the rotor, uses a relatively long tail pipe forming part of. the engine; and the tail piping is utilized to provide a main spar structure for the rotor and providing the exhaust for the jet engine. The rotor structure provides a simple and light but yet sturdy construction. Because of the relatively long tail piping of the jet engine, quieter operation results compared with a jet motor at the wing tip. The hot gases passing through such tail piping eliminate any icing problems which may otherwise occur under certain conditions of flight. Drawings and instructions

Aerocopter

The Aerocopter is an aircraft that derives its lift from a freewheeling, unpowered rotor mounted on a gimble type rotor hub with horizontal thrust provided by a separate engine turning a standard fixed wing type aircraft propeller. The gyrocopter is neither an airplane nor a helicopter. Rather, it incorporates a freewheeling rotor in place of a fixed wing. The airflow passing upwardly through the rotor blades provides lift for the aircraft by forcing the rotors to turn in autorotation. The mast is located to provide a proper aircraft center of gravity, required for stable flight. A small motor is provided for bringing the rotor blades up to flight speed with the aircraft on the ground. It has a rotor blade pitch control system that allows a pilot to both select and maintain the rotor blade angle of attack and provides for releasably locking in place the rotor blade angle of attack position on the ground and in flight. It's simple design makes for easy construction by using many off the shelf components and a variety of engines. Drawings and instructions.

Personal Air Transport

The personal air transport is capable of taking off and landing vertically (VTOL) as well as hovering, forward and back as well as side to side, and is capable of traveling forward at a reasonable speed. It requires a minimum of energy to remain airborne, and which is exceedingly safe to fly, simple and easy to control and easy to operate. By providing a stable, shrouded platform with engines distributed around a circle with each engine arranged to provide upward thrust along a vertical axis. It can retain its stable orientation and continue to fly even in the event of an engine failure. An aircraft weight of 225 pounds and a full tank of fuel the craft will be able to lift a payload of about 400 pounds. The aircraft is a nimble flyer which can rapidly rise off the ground and fly horizontally in any desired direction. Control is effected in two ways:

(1) Small moveable paddles which enable the craft to rotate about its central vertical axis under control of the operator, and

(2) Throttle control, thus controlling the engine speed which will cause the craft to rise, fall or hover. The speed of the engines are also controlled separately to cause the craft to tilt in any desired direction and to move horizontally. Drawings and instructions.

  Ion Propelled Model Aircraft

This is one of the most unusual aircraft ever, it has no propeller, no jets, no helicopter rotors, no wings, in fact it has no moving parts at all. It needs no runway, takes off vertically, and will fly in any direction like a helicopter. This 2 foot diameter model takes to the air completely unsupported and flies on pure electricity. Lift is produced when a negative charge from the emitter changes surrounding air particles into ions, the ions rush toward the positively charged grid, causing a down flow of air, keeping the aircraft aloft. It can be built in almost any shape, it doesn't matter, but round models are the most easily maneuverable.
