I can't tell you what started it, but over the last ten years, I have assembled a collection of vintage tube radios and advertisement clocks. Unlike many collectors, I restore each radio and clock myself. They are seldom in working condition when I get them and even if they are, there is usually still something that need to be done in order to assure safe and reliable operation. Besides electronic work, they usually need cosmetic attention as well. If I am lucky it will just be a good cleaning and polishing, but sometimes I need to completely refinish it.
