Cracked Windows 1.0 is designed to automatically kill the annoying popup windows received while surfing the internet.

- Limitations -
This is the first release of Cracked Windows and as such it has some known and unknown issues. I have stated the known issues below and fixes (work-arounds) for them. If you come across other issues, bugs, or features you'd like to see in the next release please send me an email: purplexed@aol.com
- Known Issues -
In some cases the popup windows you wish to allow are also prevented from opening. One such case occurs when right-clicking on a link and selecting "Open in New Window" from that menu. Another similar event may happen on web pages that utilize JavaScript to dynamically open links in new windows.
This program will not work with the web browser built into AOL, so please use the stand-alone version of Internet Explorer.
- Fixes -
To correct the above issues I have implemented a simple work-around. Holding down the "SHIFT key" will temporarily pause the program and allow all new windows to be displayed. This pause starts when the "SHIFT key" is pressed and will remain in effect until you release it, so hold it down as long as necessary.
You can also pause the program by removing the checkmark beside "Kill Popups", which is done by right-clicking on the program icon in the taskbar (purple/black icon next to the clock). This will stop the program until you replace the checkmark.
- What's Next -
The next version of Cracked Windows will most likely include the following features and any others that I come up with while writting it:
Option to automatically load the program when Windows starts. (For the time being this can be accomplished by right-clicking on the Cracked Windows program and from the displayed menu select "Create Shortcut". Then take that shortcut icon and drag it into your Windows Startup folder.)
An auto-save settings feature, so the settings will automatically be present next time the program starts.
Built-in update feature to scan for new releases/upgrades.

Cracked Windows 1.0 has been tested with Internet Explorer 6.0 on a computer running Win XP. This program was coded in Visual Basic 6.0, and as such requires the VB6 Run-Time Files. These files were not included because most computers already have them installed. If you receive a run-time error because you do not have these files, then click the link above and follow the directions within the zip to properly install them.
