Everyone
has their picks, that which has inspired, that which is read over and over,
feeding the imagination and providing an entertainment that is enjoyed time and
again. Here are a few of mine.
The
Spark
by Heather Parsons. In my opinion, the
most fascinating and artfully constructed piece of fanfiction ever
created. I’m only sorry she got bored
with it before she finished. This piece
opened my eyes when I read it for the first time three years ago, made me
realize that a story written with borrowed characters can be just as good, if
not better, than that from which the characters originated. Sorry, L.J.
For the older crowd, this one’s got you beat.
Furtive Scribblings.
A humble archive of Dee’s work, inspired by X-men movieverse. I never thought I’d ever enjoy a
Wolverine/Rogue pairing until I read King of Hearts. Wow.
Leadbelly, a.k.a She Wanted to Die
by Katie Cleaver. Still a work in
progress, this epic is by far the best Cowboy Bebop fanfic out there. She’s got me checking FFn every day. The sage continues here.
Ballad of the Waltz by Crimson. Another Cowboy Bebop fanfic. Definitely worth a click.
A
Crown of Roses, A Crown of Thorns by K-Nice. A
beautiful, introspective vignette, a “what-if” involving my all-time favorite
Marvel couple, Gambit and Rogue. This
story felt real. I only hope to
write these two so well.
Blind
Sight
by Valerie. This fic is on the level of
The Spark, written just as well but with characters borrowed from the
X-men. I crave fanfiction involving
Gambit and Rogue that isn’t mushy or overly dramatic. Hers fits the bill. Still
in the works, but certainly worth the time.
NO LONGER UPDATED.
Safety
in Numbers by Elizabeth. Another
Wolverine/Rogue pairing that I can deal with.
Little Things by Elizabeth. What can I say? I like this girl’s style.
The movieverse Cyclops is so much more likeable than comicverse.
