    13. EMPOWERMENT OF HANDLOOM FABRIC DESIGNERS IN COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN TECHNOLOGY.

  13. Summary :-The Project aims at modernization of Handloom industry through introduction of modern designs, colour combination using latest technology in a participatory manner. Modernization in design and colour combination through adoption of modern technology will make the handloom fabrics more competitive to meet the rapid changing mood of the consumers for fashionable designs both Nationally as also Inter-nationally. This in turn will result in value addition of the produce thereby leading to overall enhancement of income and social empowerment of the Handloom Weavers Community in the district and enable them to withstand competition effectively in India and abroad. The Project involves active participation of the local people both in financial and managerial aspects thereby making it participatory and self-sustaining in nature. Efforts are also being made to continuously update their knowledge about latest fashion and designs by setting up of a Library conducting of workshop etc. This is one of the critical gaps which is required to be covered enable the weavers to withstand the competition and rapid change in fashion and designs all over the World. Besides the Weavers will eventually go in for diversification in the product range as determined by the market trend.

  15. Objectives :- Main objectives of the project are as under :-

1 ) Eliminating the manual and thus time-consuming process of designing and introducing the ordinary weavers and designers to the efficiency and economy of computer-aided design technology;

2) Introducing ease of innovation in designing and multiple colour combinations through CAD ;

    1. Preservation of old designs by providing for their digital storage and their subsequent retrieval ;

    2. Making the stake-holders of the industry self-dependant and showing them that they can chart their destiny themselves;

UNIQUE FEATURES :-

1. This project affects the ordinary every-day life of the common weavers and designers . This shall make a significant contribution to their incomes and quality of life by improving their productivity and marketability of the fabric .
