Chapter 7

The Help Menu.

Every windows application has a Help menu and this one is no exception. It does not include the search engine but it is organized in the same manner as the menus. So, if you want to find out how to draw a line, just look up "Line" under the "Draw" menu. In my view, other Windows applications make it unnecessarily complicated to find simple things.

7.1 Moving around in the "Help" menu.

To open the help screen select any of the items under the "Help" menu. A blue window will open and the text will be light cyan. Another of my opinions is that this color scheme is very easy on the eyes. There will be a button at the top labeled close. The MaxCAD menu bar will not be covered by the help window and will still be visible.

Without clicking the "Close" button open the help menu and click a different item. The contents of the help screen will change to the new selection. Scroll down to find the menu item you are looking for. You may change the contents of the help window as many times as you wish. When you are finished with the help window, click the "Close" button to close it. Note: the F1 key does not work when the help window is open.

7.2 List of Shortcut Keys.

The list of shortcut keys is something you may need to refer to frequently. It has been assigned a shortcut key of its own. Pressing F1 will open this section of the help file in the help window. If the help window is already open, the F1 key will not work. However, selecting "Shortcut Keys" from the "Help" menu will.

If you want a hard copy of this list press Shift Control F1 or select "Print List of Shortcut Keys" from the "Files" menu.
