February 2, 2001 - Ultimatum 3. Killtime, Philadelphia PA

My first gig of the new millenium ... how cheesy is that? I kicked the event off just before 9 p.m. and spun until 10 p.m. on the main floor. Ultimatum was just a generally cool event with an artistic flair ... paintings on the walls, interesting video presentations, and a generally laid back atmosphere. Musically, the event focused on more esoteric electronic genres such as noise, IDM, dark drum n' bass, experimental, ambient, digital hardcore, harsh industrial, etc. I got to deviate from the standard "club" style and play gabber and some noisier stuff that I enjoy. Ultimatum was lots of fun ... I got to spin on super nice equipment, "Battlebots" was being shown on a large screen behind me as I did my set, and the patronage even applauded! Definitely check Ultimatum out of you enjoy the more unusual end of the electronic world.
