I know I've said in the past that I probably would not spin in the Fountain Room in Shampoo anymore, but after quite a long break from doing so I figured "ah, why not". Many of my friends attend this event so it's a good place just to get some practice and show off for them. For the first time, I spun a set entirely on vinyl and while it went well, I definitely have some kinks to work out. In general, this was an interesting gig. Since the September 11 terrorist attacks occured only a day before, I was not sure this would happen but things continued as planned. Generally, things were simultaneously somber and joyful, which was to be expected. With the uncertainty the entire country faced at this time, everyone who came out deserves a thank you for being brave and continuing your normal way of life in the face of adversity. That, not bombs, is the way to beat terrorism. Thanks especially to Ashley for being my roadie, Ian for the pointers, and Evi for the moral support and diet coke.
