The current administration would prefer to have you believe that unions
are powerless and on the wane. We must remind people that unions are
alive, well, and vital resources for protecting American workers. We
are at a very difficult time in America. The
corporate shills who have seized power understand that most Americans did not choose
George Bush or his policies. Unions give us a voice so that we can
speak truth to power. Our
solidarity defines a common ground of mutual interest.
Monday night we plan to discuss orchestrated attacks on unions and the
cynical attempts to destroy the Social Security
Insurance Program which has protected elderly, disabled, and disenfranchised family
members of
workers for more than sixty years. We will also talk about how
unions lead the fight for good jobs, sufficient health
care, deficit reduction, and putting a stop to the corporate boondoggle war on Iraq
and her people.
Our national security has been sacrificed to protect the interests of the
richest 6% in this country. It is time to stand up for America!
