Galaxy
8" x 10" black and white photograph. This is a contact print from a pinhole print taken in a round oatmeal box, which is where the distortion comes from. I took it summer of 98 at the Kansas City Art Institute high school summer residency program. I was wandering the campus after a photography workshop looking for something to shoot, when I saw the photography teacher's car, which I was in love with at the time. I walked a little ways away to get a chair to set the camera up on, when the sun came out, so I ran back to the car before it could go back behind a cloud. I slapped the camera down and opened the shutter, and only then realized that I hadn't composed my picture. But it turned out better than I could have hoped, sort of a happy accident. I sold the first contact print at the end of the session show to my floor's RA for forty bucks. |
Chartres- cathedral
5" x 7" black and white photograph. This one was from a visit to Chartres, France. Really lovely day, and I dig doing these perspective pictures. |
London bridge
4" x 5" black and white photograph. Mandatory cute couple shot, but surprisingly not in Paris. |
Tours- hotel
5" x 7" black and white photograph. My friends Joanna and Julie right after we got into the hotel at Tours, France. They were all tuckered out, and I thought it made a nice landscape. This photograph was selected as part of the Developing Images Photography contest my senior year. The show ran from April 7-16 at the Society for Contemporary Photography. |
Self portrait
5" x 7" black and white photograph. This is just the result of me playing around with the mini portable tripod that goes with my camera. I'll do anything to get out of doing government homework. |
