Body and Paint.

It was almost discouraging to see my car all pulled apart and overspray on everything.  It feels like I am just starting the project when in all actuality I am almost done.

I take a trip up to check out the car about once a month.  Most likely this will be my last entry before it is complete.   I had Roby give my an estimation as to when it would be completed and what kind of monetary damage this part of the saga would do.  It looks like the end of April everything should be completed (Good News!).  He also advised that it looks like it will be approximately 250hrs on the body and paint job.  That's at $25 an hour, you do the math.(Bad News!)  I had already purchased the paint and supplies,  which totaled over $1300 alone.

I decided to have the interior completed before I pick the car up.  I found a GT dash on Ebay that I picked up and I'll replace the standard dash with it.  I want to change the stock gauges with Autometer SuperComp units but that will have to wait.  While Roby was stripping the car I was able to find some parts that I was either missing or just didn't have.  I found the padding for the rollbars, a fiberglass rear valance.  I found a steal on a StreetAvenger 670cfm carb to replace my Carter and found some working fuel and nitrous solenoids for my nitrous setup.   I also found all the weatherstripping for after the paint is complete.

Update: May 15

Well, we are finally coming to the end of the road. Everything is painted or covered and is ready to be put back together. Here are some things that I decided to do since last time. I went ahead a purchased all the weatherstripping for the car and replace the cracked pieces. I decided that it would be worth sending the headers off to be JetHot coated, they came out great. The upholstery has been completed and it looks factory(You'll just have to wait for the pictures). Roby built an enclosure for my gauges that rises from the tranny tunnel to the bottom of the dash, my temp, oil pressure, ammetter and nitrous purge switch reside there. I have scheduled time to go pick it on May 31st so I won't have pictures until then.
