Maintaining Justin

“I can do this, Josh.”

JC paused at Justin’s words, the toothbrush in his mouth stilling. He poked his head out of the bathroom, spying Justin as he sat on their bed. “Wha?” he mumbled.

“I said, I can do this. The solo thing,” Justin explained.

They’d just gotten back from a meeting with Chris, Lance, and Joey. The Celebrity tour had just ended, and they’d all met to notify some Jive guys what they all planned to do during the hiatus. Lance’s Russia trip was already decided, Joey had just signed to Rent, but Justin had made the biggest splash, announcing he was going to release his solo cd this year. The men of *Nsync, of course, had already known this and had agreed to Justin’s solo venture. They’d all known that both Justin and JC had been working on independent stuff, but they’d voted for Justin to go solo first. The Jive people were over the moon ecstatic at Justin’s announcement. Since they’d decided against an Nsync greatest hits album, this idea made them practically salivate.

“I can do it,” Justin repeated.

JC removed his toothbrush. “Exactly who are you trying to convince,” he asked. “Me or you?”

Justin looked at him, smiling slightly. “Me. You.” He shrugged. “Maybe both.”

JC finished in the bathroom, coming back and joining Justin on the bed. “Of course you can do it, Justin,” he told the younger man. “You have the drive and the talent and the ambition.” JC reached up and tugged lightly on Justin’s ear

“And the time is right,” Justin added, leaning into the caress.

JC laughed. “Yep. But then again, you doing this solo thing is a double edge sword, isn’t it?”

“How so?”

“Because regardless of you eventual success, you’ll be seen as the person responsible for breaking up *Nsync,” JC explained. “No matter how many times we say we support it, no matter how many times you say you’re not leaving, all that is going to be said is that we’re breaking up.” JC ran a soft finger down Justin’s neck. “Can you handle that?”

“I can’t control what other people write,” Justin shrugged. “I can speak only the truth.” He looked at JC. “It’ll be hard on you, though, won’t it?”

“I’ll survive, Justin,” JC assured him. He rose from the bed and went to his dresser, pulling a small box from the top drawer. He sat back down next to Justin. “Remember when you gave me my Leo pendant?”

Justin nodded, reaching a finger out to lightly touch the pendant nestled on JC’s chest. “I told you it was because you were my protector.”

“And I was,” JC agreed. “I still am. But I won’t be able to protect you as much with this solo thing, Justin, so I got you something that will.” JC handed the small box to Justin, who opened the box. “It’s Vishnu, the Hindu god of protection and maintenance.”

JC reached out and pulled the necklace from the box, moving to kneel behind Justin and clasping the necklace around the boy’s neck. “This way,” JC explained, leaning against Justin’s back and touching the necklace lightly. “I’ll know you’re protected when I’m not there.”

Justin reached up and grasped JC’s hand. He lifted JC’s hand to his lips, kissing it softly. “Oh, Josh,” he said, his eyes blinking rapidly. “

JC noticed Justin’s eyes filling. “What’s wrong?” JC asked.

“I, well,” Justin paused, turning on the bed to look at JC. “I’m scared, really scared of doing this on my own, without you there.” He reached up and touched JC’s pendant again. “When have I ever done anything without you? My protector. But this.” Justin’s hand grasped his Vishnu pendant. “You somehow knew I needed something, something of you, to assure me you’ll always be there to protect me, and…I’m babbling,” he said, leaning forward and laying his head on JC’s shoulder.

“No, it’s okay,” JC said, petting Justin’s back. “I’m glad you like it and understand what it means.”

Justin raised his head, nodding. “I do,” he said, laying a soft kiss on JC’s lips. “Except…”

“Except what?”

“I understand the protection part,” Justin said. “But the maintenance part is a bit confusing.”

“Oh, that part.” JC touched the pendant on Justin’s chest, then moved his fingers down to the buttons of Justin’s shirt. “That’s to remind you that when you need maintenance, to call me.” JC leaned in, nibbling on the exposed skin of Justin’s chest. “I’ll be glad to supply any maintenance you may need.” He clasped is mouth onto one of Justin’s nipples, sucking and biting the tender flesh.

“Oh…” Justin gasped with pleasure, lying down on the bed as JC spread open his shirt. “Maintenance…” He sucked in a breath as JC’s hands traveled down, unbuttoning his jeans and sliding his warm fingers inside to grasp Justin’s hard cock. “Is…that…what…oh god…called?”

JC slipped to the floor between Justin’s legs, pulling off Justin’s jeans with a quick motion, tongue licking a slick trail up his thigh. “Uh huh,” JC said, his hot breath teasing Justin’s cock as his mouth hovered above it. “It’s a special service us protectors provide to the protected,” he explained, his teeth taking small nips at the sensitive head of Justin’s cock. “Just to let them know that,” JC continued, licking Justin’s cock from base to tip, making the younger man squirm. “We’re always available…” JC mouth sucked at Justin’s sac as his hand squeezed. “To take care of our charges…” JC’s hands pressed against Justin’s shifting hips, holding them still as their eyes met. “No matter what they need.”

Justin’s hips bucked as JC’s mouth engulfed Justin’s length in his hot, sweet mouth. JC’s tongue and teeth and lips and throat worked Justin’s cock like a fine musician works a instrument, all the elements melding together for the ultimate music. And Justin was singing indeed, sighing and screaming and panting at the feelings JC was eliciting from him. Justin felt his climax coming and just let it happen, knowing he was loved beyond anything, knowing he loved the man making him come more than anything, knowing that together or separate, they’d always be one.

“So?”

Justin opened a tired but sated eye, looking at JC as he hovered above him. “So, what?”

“So, are you ready?” JC asked. “Can you do this solo thing?”

Justin looked JC, seeing the love shining in JC’s eyes “With your love, protection and, uh, maintenance,” he said, reaching up and pulling JC’s head down, whispering against the older man’s lips. “I can do anything.”

JC nodded. “That’s what I thought,” he said, closing the distance between them.

A tiny clink could be heard as their pendants met right before their lips did.

They smiled at the sound.
