"Justin.”
He heard the voice, but chose to ignore it, keeping his eyes shut tight.
“Justin.”
Leave me alone, he thought. I’m trying to sleep.
“JUSTIN!” The voice yelled, shaking the bed furiously.
“I’m up! I’m up!” Justin exclaimed. “Stop jumpin’ on my bed!”
He rubbed his eyes and looked up to see who it was that decided to harass him at
3:00 in the morning. He looked
right into the silvery blue eyes of his best friend JC. But something wasn’t right. JC's eyes were wet, his face
stained with tears.
Justin sat up. “Josh, what’s
wrong?” Another tear rolled down
JC’s face, and he looked down, escaping Justin’s eyes.
”She left me.”
Justin sighed. They’d all seen it coming. Even JC. They’d known she was going to leave him, they just didn’t
know when. JC just didn’t want to
believe it.
“I’m sorry, man,” Justin whispered, reaching out to hold his friend, and
JC sobbed on his shoulder.
“I…I knew she…wanted…” He couldn’t finish, unable to speak through
his sobs.
“C…it’s gonna be ok. I promise. I’m your best friend, and I promise
it’s going to be ok.”
JC finally stopped crying, and he pulled away from Justin and sighed. “I knew
she was going to leave, J. It’s not like it’s a big shock. I just didn’t
think it was going to hurt this bad.”
“I know, Josh.”
“Sorry I woke you up, Justin. Go back to sleep.” JC stood up and turned
towards the door.
”Don’t be sorry, Josh. The
night Brit and I ended it, I was in your room bawling
for four hours. I owed you one.” Justin
saw him smile, which brought a smile to his own face.
“Good point. See you in the morning.” He turned and walked out the door, and
Justin curled back under the covers and fell asleep.
JC walked towards him, hands in his pockets, a smile tugging at the corners
of his mouth. Justin studied the
features of his friend’s face; the smiling blue eyes, the chiseled cheek
bones, the lips that always looked like they were waiting to be kissed. He smiled at the last thought, wondering to himself what it
would be like to kiss those lips. He
didn’t have to wonder for very much longer.
JC stopped in front of him, staring into his eyes with a look Justin had never
seen before. It was soft, gentle…there was passion in those eyes.
JC smiled and, placing one hand on Justin’s cheek, moved closer to him. Their
lips were inches apart. Justin could feel JC’s hot breath on his own. “Josh…”
he whispered.
“Shhhh…” JC replied, putting one finger on Justin’s lips. With
the hand that had been resting on Justin’s cheek, he reached around and ran
his fingers up Justin’s neck. Justin
shivered and closed his eyes. Moments
later JC’s lips were on his, soft at first, then more forceful. JC
pressed Justin’s lips open with his tongue, and Justin moaned softly into
JC’s mouth. Their tongues met, and Justin wrapped his hands around JC’s
waist, hugging him closer.
When the kiss ended, JC gazed into Justin’s eyes, running his thumb over
Justin’s swollen lips. Smiling,
he whispered, “I love you, Justin.”
Hands in his pockets, he turned and walked away.
Justin shot up in bed, breathing heavily, shocked at the arousal he was feeling.
What the hell was that all about? he thought. What the hell am I doing having dreams about Josh?
