Things had taken a turn for what he thought was the better when he and Alex had decided to take their relationship to the next level. It seemed like they were the perfect couple. Justin standing at 6’1 with his blondish brown curls, stunning blue eyes, boyishly good looks, and Alex with his hazel eyes, black hair, tall and muscled physique. They complemented each other, where Alex was more serious Justin was lighthearted. They had their differences and arguments like every couple but made it through. They’d known each other for 5 years and been a couple for one and a half. In that time they’d had the various talks of the future. Alex had talked of how they’d graduate college, he’d become a successful lawyer, Justin would be a big shot in the music industry, and they’d live happy lives wherever they wanted to. It had been the perfect picture. Now that perfect picture was a faded dream long gone, shadows of broken promises and dreams lingering in the air. He’d started classes for the summer semester going into his second year. He’d gotten sick. Thinking he’d just caught the flu bug that was going around the campus he’d dismissed it. Going through the motions of classes and work he’d not been able to get rid of the cold and made an appointment with his doctor. ~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ That morning he’d gone to the doctors instead of the store, calling off sick. Slamming the door to the car he’d been given by his parents what seemed like a lifetime ago, a black Honda Civic. Walking through the glass doors of the lobby he headed up the elevator to the third floor. Signing in at the desk he’d sat down in the waiting room watching a health channel on the TV. “Mr. Timberlake?” the nurse asked poking her head out the door 15 minutes later. He stood putting down the magazine he’d been flipping through. The usual height, weight, blood pressure checks were done and he’d been led into an exam room to wait for his doctor. “Good morning Justin!” The older man had smiled as he entered. “Morning Doctor Glover” “Well then what brings you here this morning?” “Well I haven’t been in since my last physical for work but I got sick a week or two ago and cant seem to shake the cold so thought I’d come by.” Justin explained. The doctor nodded. “Well let’s let Marci take some samples and we’ll take it from there.” He said. He’d been given the dreaded cup and pushed towards the bathroom. Coming out a minute later and depositing the sealed cup into the necessary place and waited again. The nurse coming in and drawing some blood handing him a small juice box before leaving again. The doctor finally came back in 30 minutes later. He liked Doctor Glover, he was older, slightly graying, black man, with warm brown eyes and a voice that made you feel like no matter what the world would be right again. Despite that usual comforting feeling he knew as soon as the man walked into the room that things in his little world were about to be shaken yet again. “Justin, well son, it looks like you don’t have the flu bug like you’d thought. The symptoms you have make it seem like that but its not. Have you been sexually active in the last 2 months Justin?” he asked. Justin’s world began to tremble. “Yes, Alex and me…. well” he started. The doctor nodded. He knew of Justin’s ‘situation’. “Well I know this is going to come as a shock. It’s definitely not something that happens a lot…there have only been a handful of cases over recent years people, men aren’t as aware of it as they should be, but the tests confirmed it. Justin, you’re pregnant.
