“Yea I agree on that, maybe have the people in the stands that catch the next throw out prize come down…” “Nah we don’t have time to do both, but I know what we could do…” Lance trailed off as the buzzer rang out signaling halftime. “Ok everyone now I know ya’ll like the prizes you’ve been getting out there!” Lance Bass, manager, actor extraordinaire cheered out to the crowd of people at the Celebrity Basketball game. Screams met his ears and he laughed. The success of this charity made him and all the others involved feel so good because it was to help children who were underprivileged reach for their dreams. Sort of a takeoff from the Make a wish foundation but this was to help people unable to afford school, homes, or living expenses, survive and better themselves. Founded by close friend singer, model, songwriter, music producer, performer Joshua Chasez, also known as JC, who worked hard to see it to success. “OK once again we want to thank you all for coming out and now it’s time for a little more audience participation how does that sound?” As the audience screamed approval Lance went on to explain what they would be doing. “Ok the lucky contestants will be coming down here and shooting free throws, whoever gets the most shots in in 20 seconds…well I think I’ll hold off on what the prize is…first let’s get our contestants down here. Now we’ve been throwing out prizes all day so far and you’ve all loved that, now what we’re gonna do is give some lucky people a shot at more stuff…sound ok?” The crowd cheered. “Ok so, ya’ll remember those t-shirts we were throwing before?” Met with cheers and catcalls as the crowd thought back to the embarrassed man in the stands Lance laughed. “Well I figured you would…so those of you who caught shirts will be competing….no- not so fast…only the people who caught the burgundy shirts….cant have 20 people down here can we?” Some people were disappointed but the crowd cheered as the winners walked down to the court. “OK Lance, it seems we’re short a person here…I’m only counting 9 people…there were 10 shirts.” Joey spoke up. His bright smile recognizable from the many movies and Broadway musicals he’d starred in. Trace couldn’t believe this was happening. “Oh oh….I know who’s missing!” Chris shouted running onto the court and jumping on Joey’s back. The audience laughed. “Who Chris” Lance smiled at his lover. “It’s that guy that JC hit in the head before…member huh, that guy that turned all red, like a chili pepper!” he laughed. Trace shook his head as people started turning in his direction and shouting that it was his friend. “Yo dude where’s your friend at?” Joey asked into his microphone as the crowd shouted. Trace walked down to the court at the overeager urgings of Chris waving his arms and jumping up and down. At center court he spoke embarrassed for his friend. “He uh…well he got hungry…. Said something about a snickers bar…” The crowd erupted into laughter along with the celebrities that had returned to the court by now. A screech from the section Trace and Justin had been sitting in caused everyone to look and the cameras to turn in that section as an oblivious Justin made his way down the steps to the row he was sitting in munching happily on a snickers bar. When he saw that Trace was missing he looked around and saw once again screaming people and faces turned in his direction. Swallowing the candy in his mouth he closed his eyes and mumbled to himself. “Not again….please don’t let me be on the big screen again.” Peeking one eye open and turning his head up to the ceiling he groaned and slapped a hand to his forehead as the crowd once again Awwed at his expense. And once again….the voice. “Still cant keep you’re attention huh?” JC spoke as the crowd screamed. Justin’s cheeks began turning red. Taking note of Trace standing on the court near JC he felt his mouth drop open. The crowd laughed at the stunned look on his face. Trace knew that look and held up his hands in surrender as Justin shouted. “Trace!?” “No…my name’s JC, but you can call me Joshua if you’d like” JC smirked as the audience screamed even louder and Justin’s eyes snapped back to JC’s amused and sexy face. “Hey…. well obviously we’ve found the missing contestant….come on down here man!” Justin felt his body move dumbly, wondering in the back of his mind how coordinated his body was when all he could seem to think was…. I can call him Joshua! over and over again. Once on the court Justin went to center court and stood near Trace away from JC. “So what’s your name?” Lance asked Justin holding out the microphone. “Justin” he replied. “Well Justin is it… We’re about to start a free throw contest…30 seconds to get as many shots as you can into the basket wins you up for it?” Alonzo Mourning said taking a mic from Chris. “Uh yea…sure…” Justin replied nervously. As the crowd cheered Justin took his place at the end of the line and waited. “Lance asked a contestant a question and chatted nicely until he came to Justin. “So, you nervous Justin?” Justin shook his head slightly. “Not really man” “Can you shoot? Lance asked. “Uh yea…I can play pretty well.” “How well is well? Alonzo asked as he watched the contestant shooting miss every shot. “Well I actually play ball.” JC looked on intently not sure what to say since Justin seemed to keep a distance from him. “Play ball…for school you mean?” “Uh y-yea” Justin stuttered at the question as JC stepped closer. “That’s tight…what school you from?” he asked thinking…this way I can find out if he’s legal. “Uh actually UNC” “Wait a second…. Justin…Justin Timberlake?!” Alonzo Mourning asked as Justin ducked his head embarrassed. The audience all listening in rapt attention, not caring that they were waiting on Justin to take his turn. “Uh yea that’s me…” he replied. Zo clapped a hand on Justin’s back “Man it’s good to meet you! I’m a big fan!” “Some of the fans who followed college basketball cheered in agreement and Justin blushed again. “Thanks man but I’m a bigger fan of yours!” Justin said in shock that an NBA star would pay him such a compliment. Well there goes that idea, JC thought, he’s a jock, got to be straight. They watched as Justin effortlessly took his shots sinking everyone ending up with 8 balls in with a swish of the net each time. “Well folks it seems as if we have a winner…but come on…it’s not fair since he’s a ringer….I mean…he plays for UNC ya’ll, so what we’re gonna do is give two prizes one to Justin here and the other to this young lady who sunk 6 shots!” Lance said as he handed the girl a bag filled with video game equipment and Justin the same. The crowed screamed and cheered as the contestants were lead off the court. The girl and Justin both stopping to get pictures taken with JC and other celebrities like Gabrielle Union, who hugged and kissed Justin on the cheek and, Jason Taylor who also expressed his honor at meeting such a promising young basketball star. Walking off with Trace Justin was stopped by Lance who handed him two tickets to the after party. “The girl wasn’t 21 so we can give you both tickets” he explained. Justin thanked him and joined Trace as they headed back to their seats getting stares as the sat down.
