At the beggining of the year I started working with a group called the student activist alliance, and on Feb. the 2nd we held our first rally for eductaion this year, which was very peacefull.
One marcher was arrested for some trafic thing, and one of our members was singled out and taken after the protest was over, because she had a camera, which they took. This was a big wakeup call for me.
I had read about that sort of thing and much much worse happening on grand scales elsewhere, but it's really different when it happens three feet from you, to one of you're friends. Since hten the SAA has disbanded, and some of it's core members have gone on to bigger, better things.
This rally was crazy, largest turnout for a Portland protest ever, also largest single protest in the history of the Human race! This international day of protest was observed by the most people and the most countries ever, making the Iraq war one of the most unpopular ever. Everyone was super, super pissed and Portland life as usual was braught to a hault. Fond memories of that night...

These are a couple pictures of the radical contingent. In the small one on the bottom, I'm the guy to the far left with Kanji on his back. Fun times.
With more protests comming, so should more pictures! Peace!
