Pet owners are being urged to keep their animals, close by, following two cases of cat mutilation in three days.
On Sunday, a woman's cat was killed and dismembered. She discovered her black and white cat dead at about 11 p.m. near her back yard.
On Wednesday, a cat's severed head was found in someone's yard only a block from the other cat's body.
later in the day, someone reported finding the body in the area, only blocks away.
An SPCA officer said there have been no leads so far and she urged pet owners to be wary.
"Keep your pets inside, which is what we recommend anyway. Ultimately, you're responsible for their well being."
Someone convicted of mutilating cats can face criminal charges, jail time and fines, along with charges unthe the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
The last similar case of cat cruelty remembered was three years ago when a group of teenaged boys tortured a cat for 45 minutes before it died.
