Fishing
You can cook or sell the fish you catch, with the exception of small fish, which you cannot sell. Sell Medium and Large fish at the Clove Villa or the Cafe. You can sell Medium fish for 80G and a Large fish for 120G.
To fish you need a fishing pole, and to get a fishing pole you need to make friends with Joe. After you've made good enough friends with him, a scene will start once you go to the Maple Lake area, in which Joe will give you your fishing rod.
It took me forever to figure out how to use my fishing rod. After you equip it press spuare, then X. Then wait (You can let go of X now). Sooner, or, more likely, later, a set of arrows will appear. One of them will be blinking. Hold X to reel it in and move the little analog stick the way the arrow is pointing. Then another arrow blinks. Point the analog that way, still holding X. Keep this up till you get it to shore.
The seasons affect what sort of fish you catch. Though any kind of fish can be caught in any season, Small Fish are most easily caught in Spring, Medium Fish in Summer and Fall, and Large fish in Winter. The weather also affects what your chances are of catching any fish. In order from the best time to the worst time, here are the conditions you should fish under:
