Vegeta wanted to tell him. He wanted to tell him about this feeling he had been having. Ever since Bulma had died the feelings he had for Kakarott continued to increase. Yes they had become friends but to Vegeta they were now more. How could he tell a person he yelled at and told he despised that he now.. .. that he now... had feelings for him?
Goku gave him a weak smile. His body was growing cold and the vision of his friend was starting to fade away. Goku never realized Vegeta cared so much but the mere fact that he would not leave his side, that he was there, was enough to let Goku know that Vegeta was his friend. Vegeta noticed Kakarott’s eyes were starting to dim to white. He began to panic, if not on the outside then on the inside for sure. Kakarott couldn't die, he couldn't! It was impossible! There was no way!

"Kakarott! Just.. just .."

Vegeta couldn't say anything to remedy the situation. He felt his heart sinking lower as he sat there beside his friend, gripping the orange gi. He stared into Goku's eyes but no matter how badly his heart was bleeding with pain and strong emotion he just could not find the words to say anything. As Vegeta sat there, Goku reached up and gently touched his wrist.

"It..s..o..kay... I .. .. know..." Goku said quietly.

Vegeta felt his eyes twitching as he was trying hard to brush off all his emotions. He watched as Goku's eyes finally shifted from their deep black into white. Vegeta felt his heart cracking into a thousand pieces and falling to the floor. As they shattered he heard himself yell Goku's name once more. His energy increased as he erupted into Super Saiyan Level; a weak attempt to suppress his feelings.
Vegeta couldn't breathe; he couldn't think. This could not be happening. It had to be a dream. A horrible nightmare. Any minute he would wake up and realize this. He waited but his eyes never opened to prove that this was not real. Instead he felt his hands tighten deep into Goku's clothes. His heart was dying, his body was trembling. He tightly closed his eyes as he grinded his teeth together.

'No, no.. NO this can not be! Kakarott.. please.. please wake up,' Vegeta's thoughts rambled on through his brain.

He powered down. Vegeta couldn't feel anything anymore. As if all his pride was suddenly stripped away. He felt lost. He felt scared. His friend.. his only friend.. was.. dead. No, Vegeta refused to believe that. Kakarott could not die. He could not. Vegeta refused to believe that he had become the victor of a fight against the most powerful saiyan in the universe. It was not possible.
A feeling of overwhelming sadness suddenly swept over him. Kakarott. His comfort. His friend. The only one who ever knew him for himself and not for the mask he hid behind ...Vegeta felt himself slipping from his own reality. He opened his eyes as he looked at the now blurry image of his friend. He looked like he was sleeping. He had to be. He just had to be. Vegeta watched him as he reached up and gently rested a hand on Goku's face. It was cold. Vegeta's throat tightened, his heart sunk. He knew in his mind that his friend was not there but his heart refused to believe it. He could not contemplate this death.

"Kakarott! Stop this right now! I order you to wake up! You can't do this to me!! You can't! ... .. ... ..Ka... please.... please...." Vegeta managed to choke out, his tone going from demanding to desperate.

The wind swept silently across the empty battle ground. It was just them now. There was no one else around. Vegeta stared at Kakarott, his heart wanting so badly to hold the younger Saiyan and tell him everything. He wanted to tell Kakarot how much he cared for him, how much he cherished their friendship. How much he.. ... loved him.
No matter what words he wanted to say the truth was it was already too late. Words would mean nothing now. He would just be talking to the wind. Vegeta's eyes, blurry from tears of hidden emotions never released, stared at his friend. His entire life was sitting there. There was nothing else now. There was no one else now. He was alone.
There was nothing to be said. The emotion was tearing at him; eating his soul and consuming his heart. Vegeta moved closer to Goku as he lay down beside him. He knew Goku would not be able to feel him but Vegeta didn't care. He just wanted to be with him, he just wanted someone to comfort him. Kakarott would never be able to do that now; he would never be there now. All the loneliness flooded through him as Vegeta found himself getting as close to Kakarott as he could. His silent tears had already the ground around them as he lay there. He would not leave Goku. He could not leave him. There was no where else and no one else for him. As he lay there, his exhaustion from emotional distress started to tire him. He watched Goku as his eyes started to get heavy.

".. Kakarott," he whispered as he closed his eyes...
