Vegeta looked at King Kai for a few seconds trying not to laugh at him. He didn’t know whether to yell at the Kai for giving him orders or to laugh at what the Kai was suggesting. King Kai could sense his arrogance taking over him and looked at him harshly.
“Vegeta, it is very important that you follow these rules.”
“Of course,” Vegeta said dryly.
King Kai looked at him, then sighed, “Second, you must not take off the clothing I have put on you. If you take them off then your true form will return along with all the pain and suffering that went with it. Do not take off any garment that I have given to you.”
“Okay.”
“And finally, do not partake in eating any souls while you are on Earth.”
Vegeta quickly snapped him a look, “Souls?”
“Yes. As a demon you now possess the ability to eat souls that contain any slight hatred in them. A demon usually does this when they become hungry. Do not let this happen to you. Understand?”
“So let me get this straight. I am now a demon?”
“No. You have a demonic side. You will not be a demon unless you let that side control you.”
“Okay,” Vegeta said pausing to think, “So I can’t fight. I can’t take off my clothes and I can’t,” Vegeta paused, wincing at the next words, “Eat…souls. Anything else?”
King Kai shook his head and Vegeta nodded. He then stretched some more raising his hands to the sky. It felt good to stretch his muscles. He felt like he had been given new power, although his ki energy had not risen since it had first been lost. Vegeta didn’t understand this new feeling of power that was surging through him but he enjoyed it nonetheless.
“Also, I have put Goku in charge of you. He is going to make sure you keep the three rules that I told you about,” King Kai said quietly.
“Tch, I don’t need Kakarott as a babysitter,” Vegeta said to him.
“Regardless, he is going to keep an eye on you,” King Kai said.
Vegeta shifted his glance down to him wanting to tell him off but then walked away. He walked over to the tree and stared down at Goku. He hated him so much but yet Goku had stuck up for him so many times that he couldn’t say it anymore. Vegeta sighed and sat down leaning up against the base of the tree as well. He stared up at the night sky listening to Goku’s passive breathing. He wasn’t really worried about tomorrow but something traced in the back of his mind. He hadn’t realized that it had been so long since he had seen Trunks and Bulma. He hoped that they weren’t too mad for him not coming back from that war. He wondered how Trunks was doing. He figured the boy was probably slacking off now that he wasn’t around to make him train everyday. Vegeta sighed and closed his eyes. Even though he outwardly showed no emotion towards his family, inwardly he couldn’t wait for tomorrow.
