CHAPTER NINE: VEGETA’S NEW POWER; GOKU’S NEW MISSION BEGINS!
The only thing he could think of was to run. He was being chased down; by what? He couldn’t remember. He just kept running knowing that if he was caught the outcome would be far worse than if he stood still. He was not about to go back to hell, he was not about to endure the pain and suffering anymore. Vegeta paused only for a second, his eyes darting side to side; its movements were so fast he could barely keep up with it. He couldn’t use his ki; he barely had any to fight with. He took off running once more turning his head to look back as he was being watched only to stop as the image was in front of him. Vegeta halted in his tracks, frozen fear spread across his face as he took a few steps back. He couldn’t move; the fear paralyzed him. Vegeta backed up as the image landed softly on the ground in front of him staring at him with cold eyes.
“Kakarott…” Vegeta stuttered.
The image just looked at him and smiled deviously. He then pointed to the floor. As Vegeta looked down he watched as the floor opened to him, flames pouring from the cracks. People down below were screaming for mercy, crying out with their every last breath for someone to save them. Vegeta used his ki to keep him from falling but it was suddenly cut short. He fell but caught himself, just hanging on to the ground in front of him. Goku walked over to him, his eyes beaming with delight. Vegeta gritted his teeth as he struggled to hold on to anything solid. Goku reached down and grabbed him by his shirt collar pulling him up.
“Kakarott… why are you doing this?” Vegeta asked gripping Goku’s wrist.
“It’s for you own good,” Goku said harshly.
He then started laughing as he dropped Vegeta; Vegeta yelled, suddenly forcing open his eye and started to sit up only to be forced back down by the real Goku.
“Finally. I didn’t think you were going to wake up,” Goku said with a breath of relief.
“Wake up?” Vegeta muttered quietly as he rested his head back on the pillow.
Goku nodded as he took the rag from Vegeta’s forehead and replaced it with his hand feeling for his temperature. Vegeta stared up at the ceiling panting slightly. Goku felt his forehead for a few moments before removing his hand.
“Good, you don’t have a fever anymore,” he said looking at him.
“…fever? … Kakarott…where am I?” Vegeta asked weakly still very disoriented.
“It’s okay Vegeta; just take it easy,” Goku said as he picked up the bowl of water and the rag and walked quietly out of the room.
Vegeta lay there staring at the ceiling; his body felt completely numb. He could barely move. He wondered where he was, but he wasn’t too worried. If Kakarott wasn’t worried he knew he had nothing to be afraid of. Yet the nightmare still played in the back of his mind and his curiosity wanted to know. He tried to sit up but he was too stiff and sore to move so he just lay there waiting for Goku to come back.
He must have fallen asleep because the next thing he knew, Goku was lightly shaking him trying to get him to wake up. Vegeta opened his eyes even though he could only see out of one and looked at Goku.
“King Kai said I have to try and heal those wounds on your face. This stuff stings a little so I just wanted to let you know that ahead of time. We can’t have you looking the way you do Vegeta, I don’t think the others would understand,” Goku said as he took his finger and rubbed some medicine on it.
Vegeta looked at him blankly still having no idea what he was talking about. He closed his eyes just as Goku placed his finger on one of the cuts on Vegeta’s face. Immediately Vegeta opened his eyes and yelled. Startled, Goku fell back, the medicine still on his finger. He looked at Vegeta a bit shaken as Vegeta jerked his head to the side.
“THAT HURT!” he yelled at Goku angrily.
“I SAID IT WOULD STING!” Goku yelled back, “Now let me finish,” he continued.
Vegeta gritted his teeth and kept his face to the side so Goku could finish. Goku spread the rest of the medicine across his wounds.
