As his ki rose Goku stopped from his inspection of hanging bodies and looked in the direction it was coming from. The ki was faint but it was Vegeta’s. Goku threw the flashlight down and powered up, taking off in the direction of Vegeta’s ki.
The demons picked Vegeta up while he struggled and began carrying him over to the flames.
“LET ME GO!! PUT ME DOWN!!” Vegeta yelled at them.
They suddenly gave Vegeta his wish as they tossed him into the fiery pit. Vegeta went under and looked up to see no way to get to the surface; there were just too many bodies around. He then looked down to see that there were people under him trying to swim up as well. His eye widened as he saw their fleshing melting from their body. He then looked at his left hand and watched as his glove slowly started to deteriorate and the flesh on his fingers began melting off. He gripped his hand then began swimming upward.
Goku appeared in front of the pit. His eyes widened at the horrible site he saw. The demons jumped and shied away from him, knowing that his good energy did not belong down here. They growled at him angrily as Goku landed overlooking the pit. He then looked down at them as they glared back at him.
“I’m looking for a guy named Vegeta. Have you seen him?” Goku asked.
“He’s in the pit, and you leave him there!” they yelled back.
Goku ignored them as he flew over the pit and began looking for Vegeta. As Vegeta swam to the top he could feel a very familiar ki. Feeling the searing of his flesh he grabbed someone’s ankle and pulled them down going up to the surface in their place. His hand reached out and grabbed upward as he tried to reach the surface. As he did he gripped onto Goku’s boot. Goku yipped at the unexpected surprised and pulled away, pulling Vegeta up to the surface.
Vegeta coughed and sputtered shaking his head from side to side. The darkness kept Goku from seeing very well but the image appeared to be that of Vegeta so he yelled at him. Vegeta looked up at him.
“Kakarotto!” Vegeta yelled as he began sinking back under.
Goku reached down and grabbed Vegeta’s wrist pulling him from the flames. Since no one else called him Kakarott, he figured that it was Vegeta. He hoisted Vegeta up, Vegeta glancing up at him.
“What took you so long?” Vegeta muttered as he passed out.
Goku put Vegeta over his shoulder and looked back to see the demons yelling at him. They began ordering him to put Vegeta back into the fire. Goku smiled and waved at them before using his instant transmission to leave the area. He appeared in front of Lord Enma’s desk and removed Vegeta from his shoulder, only then seeing the horrid state Vegeta was in did he yelled and let him go.
Vegeta hit the ground and winced, becoming conscious again. He opened his good eye but he couldn’t see anything; the light was so blinding. He covered his eyes with his hands. Goku backed up looking at him in shock and covered his mouth to keep from throwing up. Lord Enma just sighed at Goku’s reaction.
“Is…Is he suppose to look like that?!” Goku asked Lord Enma.
“Sadly, he’s supposed to look worse. I don’t think he’s suffered enough yet Goku. I’m sorry…I think he should go back,” Lord Enma said.
Goku stared in shock as he looked over at Vegeta; his appearance was horrific. His clothing was torn and ripped, the skin on his entire left arm was gone and he had a big hole carved out through his right leg. Goku could barely look at Vegeta without getting a sick feeling to his stomach. Upon hearing Lord Enma’s decision he quickly looked up at him and floated up towards his desk to meet him eye to eye.
“Wait a minute, isn’t there a test or something you can do to prove that?” Goku said.
“Goku, you are trying my patience,” Lord Enma responded sharply.
Goku looked up at him pleadingly. Lord Enma sighed and then created an image of Goku. Goku watched as he saw himself appear and stared in amazement. Image Goku did not waste anytime in walking over to Vegeta and picking him up tightening his grip around Vegeta’s throat.
