CHAPTER SEVEN: VEGETA’S REPENTANCE 8 YEARS, GOKU TO THE RESCUE!

‘It’s quiet,’ Vegeta thought to himself.

From the hook he had grown so accustomed too he hung upside down. Blood slowly dripped from his fingertips to the ground below. He remained motionless with his eyes closed.

‘Where…where are they?’ he thought to himself.

In his moment of rest he was afraid to open his eyes knowing that they would realize he had awakened from being unconscious again. It seemed like too long since he had seen daylight. Time seemed to run forever down here; there was no distinguishing of days. When he was conscious, he was tortured and sometimes when he wasn’t he was still tortured. But suddenly everything seemed to have stopped. The silence was deafening and frightening; knowing that something was out there plotting the next course of action to take on him. As he had spent his time suffering he began to understand the purpose of the darkness and of the silence. Vegeta hung there thinking to himself about his life. How he had degraded so many, how he had done everything for himself. He remembered all the times he could have spent with his son and his wife and didn’t. But mostly he remembered Kakarott; the noble Saiyan who always seemed to look out for everyone no matter if they were good or bad. He was always giving his enemy a second chance; always laughing and being so carefree about his life. Vegeta hated that about him and as he hung there he suddenly realized that maybe he should have been a little more like him.
All his thoughts were cut short as he slowly opened his eyes. He looked out on the darkness to see nothing; no demons were anywhere to be found. Vegeta began to get nervous as the scene before him was not normal. He then noticed a blurry orange image appearing in front of him. It looked at him and smiled.

“Ka…Kakarotto?” Vegeta whispered as he looked on.

Suddenly he felt himself falling as the hook fell to the ground dragging Vegeta down with it. He landed and lay there if only for a matter of seconds as the demons suddenly appeared around him again. Once again Vegeta tried to break himself free; still being persistence to get away from this torture. As he did they made sure he would suffer more by turning him around to face upward. As they did they took no consideration of his leg and easily snapped it. Feeling the snap of the bone and the twisting and pulling of his muscles he let out a yell of pain. The demons laughed as one jumped on top of his chest and put its hand over his mouth to silence him. Vegeta looked as the others surrounded his face. His nervousness began to rise as well as his suspicious as to what they were going to do to him.
Without warning they held his head down and his wrists to keep him from jerking. Vegeta looked as suddenly one rose up its carving knife and smashed it down into his eye. Vegeta yelled but his mouth was covered, muffling his sound of pain. His arms tensed as he tried to jerk free to attend to his face but the demonic figures made sure that it was impossible for him to do so. He quickly closed his eyes, but it did not seem to faze them as the demon began carving out his left eye, skin and all. It one sudden rip, the eye came out with all the nerves attached. The other demon uncovered Vegeta’s mouth hearing him yell in immense agony; the pain surging through him. They laughed hysterically at him enjoying his pain.

“…spare me…I…I…give up…” Vegeta choked out to them.

Hearing his plea they merely laughed at him as they began pulling him back up. Vegeta hung there as it became silence once more. He opened his good right eye and looked to see the demons had left; for now. Vegeta stared on as the image appeared again to him. It was just an orange blur but it looked so much like Goku that Vegeta raised his hand out to it.

“Kakarott…look, I know we have our differences…but…but…I’m willing to put that behind us; in fact…I already have,” Vegeta managed to choke out as he extended his hand outward reaching towards the image.

The image did not respond nor did it offer to help him. It stood there, just out of his reach.

“Kakarott…please…I’m sorry…please…” Vegeta responded as his tone became more desperate, “Kak—Kakarott…please…”
