Chapter Six: Goku Tells All, Bulma and Trunks Discover Vegeta’s Death
Bulma was sitting at the table that morning quietly sipping her coffee. She stared out the kitchen window to see her son rigidly training in the backyard. She smiled softly watching Trunks pour his efforts into his fighting skills. He reminded her so much of Vegeta and she knew he was training for him.
Three years had passed since Vegeta had left without a goodbye. They had not heard from him nor seen anything about him to tell them of his status. Bulma wished that Vegeta would at least send them something to let them know he was alright. She knew he could take care of himself but she always worried about him. And now that Trunks was training she worried even more. She didn’t mind Trunks training but lately he had become more obsessed with it. He was acting more and more like his father everyday; waking up early and going to bed late, spending all his time outside or in the gravity chamber. She hoped he wasn’t pushing himself too hard.
Bulma sat at the kitchen for a while until she looked up at the clock. She then stood up and walked upstairs into one of the extra bedrooms which had been transformed into a nicer bedroom. In a large bed a tiny little girl lay sleeping peacefully. Bulma walked in and over to her leaning down and gently shaking her.
“Bra, it’s time to wake up,” Bulma said quietly.
The little girl opened her eyes slowly and looked over at her mother and smiled. She yawned and sat up rubbing her eyes as Bulma walked over to the closet opening it. Bulma picked out some clothes for her and sat them on the bed, then proceeded to dress her daughter. Bra let her and then crawled out from her bed and went into the bathroom. Bulma smiled watching Bra do things for herself. She then stood up from the bed and walked into the bathroom and helped Bra brush her teeth and comb her hair.
After Bra was ready she ran downstairs just as Trunks was coming into the kitchen to get something to drink. She smiled eagerly seeing her big brother and ran to him, hugging him. Bulma followed after her, smiling to see her affections towards her brother. Trunks rested his hand on her head while he pulled a bottle of water from the fridge. Bra looked up smiling at him as she wrapped her arms around his legs. Trunks ignored her drinking his water and then attempted to walk. He became slightly agitated when Bra wouldn’t let go.
“Let go of me Bra, I’m busy right now,” Trunks said setting his water bottle on the counter.
Bra smiled at him before letting go and then watched as he went outside. She walked over to the door and stared out watching as Trunks started doing some light exercises.
“Is Trunks working?” Bra asked as she watched him.
“Yes,” Bulma said quietly and she poured Bra some orange juice and handed the glass down to her, “Don’t spill it okay?”
Bra smiled and took a drink and then looked out at Trunks, “Can I go out there and work too?”
Bulma smiled at her and responded, “Of course not. You’re too young for that. Why don’t you go play okay? You can take your juice with you.”
Bra nodded and went off to her room to play with her dolls. Bulma watched her go and then turned back to look outside. She began washing dishes at the same time watching Trunks. As she was drying dishes Goku’s voice suddenly came to her head.
“Hey Bulma!”
“G—Goku??” Bulma asked looking around and then looked up.
“Yeah it’s me!” Goku said with a light laugh as his voice echoed through the kitchen
At the same time Trunks walked into the kitchen to get another glass of water. He picked up his bottle and began drinking out of it. Feeling another presence in the room from other world, Goku smiled.
“Is that Trunks?” he asked Bulma.
Trunks paused and looked around, “What? Who said that?”
Bulma giggled, “Yep. That is Trunks.”
“Who are you talking to?” Trunks responded dryly looking at his mother.
“Hi Trunks! Remember me? Goku!” Goku said.
“Goku?...” Trunks paused for a moment then nodded lightly, “Oh yeah…I remember you. What do you want?”
Goku laughed lightly hearing Trunks’ remark towards him, “Man oh man, will Vegeta be proud when he hears you’ve grown up to be just like him!”
