EA quietly entered to see his father, the elder, sitting on the floor. He walked over and sat down in front of him watching his father mediating in silence.
“The Prince is out waiting for Asadeem in the valley,” EA said quietly.
“Yes, I know,” the elder replied.
The elder then opened his eyes and looked at his son. He got up and slowly walked over to the window staring out to the street leading out of the city. EA watched his father quietly without speaking a sound.
“EA, I want you to watch over the Prince. Despite his boldness he will need your help tomorrow in fighting Asadeem and his troops,” the elder said not looking at his son.
“How can you help someone who doesn’t want to be helped?” EA asked dryly looking away from his father.
“EA, you must learn patience with others. In my years of raising you I have found that your temper is the one thing you can not control. If you are not careful you will find weakness in it,” the elder paused then turned to look at his son, “It is now your responsibility to look after Prince Vegeta while he is staying with us. I want you to make sure our guest is safe. I trust you will not disappoint me,” the elder continued.
EA sat motionless, staring down into the floor for a while before he quietly nodded. He then stood up and walked over to the door. The elder watched as EA left the house and walked back down the street. The night air was freezing but exhilarating. EA knew that Vegeta had to be cold. Climates like this seldom occurred on the planet he had been staying on.
Meanwhile, Vegeta had waited for what seemed like hours before EA had left. He didn’t want to train with someone watching him, it was annoying. Vegeta waited until EA had disappeared from his sight before he powered up. He then jumped into the air training with his speed, dodging back and forth, throwing punches and kicks as he moved. The night air was refreshing to him and his training kept him from getting cold.
As Vegeta trained EA finally reappeared. Vegeta was too busy with his own training to notice the alien standing on the top of the hill watching him. EA came over the hill to see the prince in the air, disappearing and reappearing all over the sky. His jaw dropped slightly as he watched Vegeta train.
‘How…How is he doing that??? And I’m supposed to take care of him?! I think he is doing a fairly nice job taking care of himself,” EA thought to himself.
EA walked over to a tree and sat under it leaning back against it as he watched Vegeta train. It was several hours before EA drifted off into a deep sleep, tired from the day’s events. Vegeta spent the rest of the night in intense training.
As the sun appeared over the horizon the next morning Vegeta paused to admire it. The rays warmed his face as he yawned and stretched in mid-air. Vegeta landed quietly on the ground only then noticing EA sleeping underneath the tree. He wondered how long the alien had been there but his attention was soon diverted to another energy approaching.
EA was dreaming peacefully when a sharp energy woke him up, almost as if he had sense something coming. He stood up and looked to see Vegeta had landed. He walked over to him and stared out at the horizon. Both of them looked as if waiting for something.
Realizing it, EA responded quietly to Vegeta, “They’re here.”
Vegeta did not respond but narrowed his eyes upon hearing the comment as he watched a large army appear on the other side of the valley. They came over the hill and stopped in the middle of the valley. The general looked up at the two fighters and smiled hotly.
“Well, I see village X has brought in a new recruit,” the general said quietly to himself.
Vegeta watched as the general dismounted from his steed and stood there looking up at both of them. Vegeta quickly assessed his ki level and then snapped EA a looked.
“You wanted me to come here to fight him!?”
EA looked at him slightly confused. Agitated Vegeta pointed to the general and snapped, “He has the fighting force of a picnic ant! Even YOU could kill him with out breaking a sweat!”
