CHAPTER SIXTEEN: ACCEPTANCE
Vegeta’s eyes jerked open as he was suddenly awake. He took in a deep breath as he stared up into never-ending darkness. His dream had ended in mid thought like most nightmares do. He had no idea where he was or what was going on. He was not yet aware that he was bleeding, that his entire mission had failed and that everyone, including EA had perished. It must have been days since he had passed out but to Vegeta it seemed like only minutes. As the realization of life started to settle in from the pain of his wounds, he tried to tighten his hands into fist; a sign to show his determination for life. However his body was stiff and he could barely make out a movement. The pain was numbing and he was cold. He stared up at the night sky as his eyes adjusted to the dark, finally revealing the stars blanketing the atmosphere above him.
How he wish for someone to save him, for someone, anyone, to appear and rescue him from this horrible place. He did not know that everyone in Village X was now dead, that the entire city was burning in flames, that he was the only one that was alive. He slowly blinked as he noticed small pieces of white descending from the heavens.
‘Snow,’ his mind told him.
As the flakes began to land against his skin, they burned his face. Vegeta realized this was not snow. It was something else. But he was unaware that this white serene peaceful material was that of dead bodies and burned houses.
Vegeta closed his eyes. He could hear his heart barely pumping. He had lost so much blood. He was finally acclimated enough to understand that he was not going to live much longer. Everything was so quiet; the whole planet was dead. Finally, Vegeta realized that he was alone, that he was dying, and that no one was going to show up and save him. Hearing his heart slowing down, his breaths becoming harder to make each time, he realized that this was his fate; and he accepted it.
