The demons laughed as they all disappeared. Vegeta turned from the ravine of bones and closed his eyes. The laughter filled his mind and now the moaning was starting to agitate him as well. He put his hands up to his head, covering his ears. He could not stand it and he would give anything to make it stop, to make it go away, to make it leave him alone.
“SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP!” Vegeta yelled as he tightly closed his eyes.
They merely mocked him as each one responded after the other, “SHUT UP!”
Unable to withstand the unimaginable agitation Vegeta threw his arms down to his sides and spun around. Everything felt lost; everything was gone to him. He was alone in this world with those three laughing maniacs and it was driving him crazy. He hated his life, he hated this place, and he hated them. He was so frustrated and aggravated because he realized that he had failed. His daughter… Bura… where was she? She was still above ground; he could feel that. How could he have been so stupid? Vegeta could feel the presence of Earth slowly slipping away. Everything was dying; everything was turning horrible. His wife, his son, his new baby girl, his friends; his entire life was being destroyed and there was nothing he could do. Now there was no one to blame. If he had not been so stupid then maybe he could have stayed above ground and helped. He might not have been able to do anything but at least he would have gotten the chance to try. Now he didn’t even get that. Feeling the pain burning deep inside his soul Vegeta could no longer stand to even be around himself. The pressure, the sorrow, the remorse and utter feeling of being completely empty filled his senses. It binded him and held him. He was unable to escape the feeling as he had done so many times before. Now it was just there; and it was the only thing he had left.
His emotions suddenly exploded, unable to be held inside anymore. He could not stand it. As he did his energy increased. The demons in front of him started laughing as they felt the depression of this tired soul. However their laughter was cut short as the Saiyan before them suddenly started to change. His hair started to flicker gold as he stood there before them yelling out his heart, hearing his voice being swallowed by the silence and no echo to let anyone else know how he felt. His energy continued to raise as the ground underneath him split and cracked. The pressure and intensity of the energy began to drag the rocks and the bones up to his level. The three demons all stepped back; amazed by the power this one man had. Almost as soon as it had begun everything stopped. Vegeta hit his knees and powered down. His hair faded back to black as he stared down into the cold ground; his eyes still tightly closed. He just wanted closure; end.
The three demons stared unsure of how to respond. As Vegeta opened his eyes to look at them a blinding light flooded his senses. He jerked his head to the side, tightly closing his eyes again and this time raising an arm to defend himself in case of an attack. The light soon died and when Vegeta looked, where three demons had stood there was now only one.
This man was tall and slender. He looked almost Saiyan like himself but his ki energy truly showed he was not. He wore a white shirt with long draping sleeves. The shirt was covered with blood, ripped and torn from what appeared to be battle damage. His pants were baggy and black as they sank over his boots. He wore a black mask that covered his nose and mouth and only his red eyes could be seen through his dark brown hair. He stared at Vegeta quietly as they both looked into each other’s eyes.
“Who are you?” Vegeta asked.
The image closed his eyes as he began to speak, “I am the darkness they call night; the monster that children fear under their beds and in their closets. I am the sorrow that makes a person cry, that makes them depressed and even takes their lives. I am that which you can never see but only feel. That which makes your blood boil of anticipation and excitement but that which also creates butterflies in your stomach. I am your Frieza, your Cell, and everything else that you have come against and shook in the presence of. I am… Fear.”
As the image finished he opened his eyes to stare at Vegeta once more. Vegeta could feel himself losing control. The image stared at him; the dark pupils mixing with red. It had no true eyes. Vegeta suddenly could not think. It was as if the eyes mesmerized him. He felt more lost now than he had before. He couldn’t move; he … he was scared. As Fear approached, Vegeta felt himself freeze. He could hear his breathing increasing as if he was desperate for air. The image walked right up to him. It stared at Vegeta and Vegeta could do nothing but shake. It was as if something had taken control of his mind; he couldn’t explain it.
