CHAPTER TEN: AH! WE OVER SLEPT?!- TWO LATE SAIYANS

The morning sky was bright and calm. King Kai yawned as he stretched and got out of bed. He walked outside and surveyed the area.

“What a beautiful morning. I’m sure Goku is enjoying it on Earth with his family right now,” King Kai said to himself with a smile.

He glanced over his yard and suddenly fell over. Under the tree, Goku and Vegeta were still asleep! Vegeta was leaning up against Goku, having fallen from leaning up against the tree trunk. Both were sleeping peacefully. King Kai stood up with a shocked look on his face. How could they possibly be sleeping still?!

“GOKU! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! YOU’RE SUPPOSE TO BE ON EARTH!” King Kai yelled to him.

Hearing King Kai, Vegeta slowly opened his eyes to see…orange? He quickly established the fact that he was leaning against Goku and moved away shifting his eyes to watch as Goku yawned and began tilting his head from side to side. Goku sat there and stretched before realizing what King Kai had said. He immediately jumped up along with Vegeta.

“AH! I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS!! WE…WE OVERSLEPT!” Goku yelled.

“WHAT?!” Vegeta yelled just as shocked.

Goku waved goodbye to King Kai and took off heading towards the end of his planet. He jumped off as he yelled for Vegeta to follow him. Vegeta ran after him jumping off too only to see that below him was nothing but clouds. Vegeta reached out his hand and grabbed on to the tail of Snake Way. He pulled himself up to see Goku hovering along the path. Goku motioned for him to follow as he took off flying. Vegeta powered up and took off after him.
Vegeta could only go so far before he began to feel his ki dropping. He landed on the Path of Snake and began running after Goku. As Goku flew he looked back to see Vegeta keeping up with him relatively well. In order to save time, Vegeta began jumping from the path and landing on different segments of it. Keeping his eyes focused on Goku he forgot to check his distance and when he looked down to expect a path, there was none.
Vegeta started to panic knowing that he couldn’t fly. He began to fall just as Goku grabbed his arm. Vegeta looked to see Goku smiling at him.

“I’m not about to go into Hell and get you again,” Goku said.

Vegeta half smiled at him as he watched Goku take his free hand and place his middle and index finger to his forehead. In an instant the two dematerialized and materialized at the beginning of the Path of Snake in front of Pikon. Waving to Pikon, acknowledging his presence, Goku wasted no time in dropping Vegeta’s arm as he took off heading for the diner. Vegeta quickly followed after him.
Goku opened the door to the diner and stared in. Seconds later Vegeta came from behind crashing into him. He put his hand on Goku’s shoulder and pushed him down so he could see in as well.

“Is she in there?” He asked.

“No,” Goku said with a frustrated tone.

“Great. Just great,” Vegeta said.

Goku turned and pressed passed him walking back out. Vegeta glanced around one more time before leaving as well. They both stood in front of the diner for a few moments. Goku began looking around trying to focus on Baba’s ki energy. It finally hit him and he yelled to Vegeta as he took off heading in the direction. Vegeta grumbled realizing Goku had forgotten of his limited power and took off running after him. Finally catching up to Baba, Goku landed in front of her and waved his arms in the air for her to stop. Baba, floating on top of her crystal ball approached and slowed down, hovering in front of Goku. Goku lowered his arms and smiled at her.

“You’re late,” Baba said sharply.

“Sorry, I guess we overslept,” Goku said with a slight laugh.

“Well that’s too bad, I’m busy,” Baba said as she began to float away.

Vegeta finally caught up to them. Panting hard, he leaned over and placed his hands on his knees staring into the ground. He couldn’t remember the last time he had run so much. He looked up to see Goku chasing Baba and sighed turning his head to look around.
